Grand Enigma Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 ... I should have a new Stello DA100 The DA100 appears to essentially be the single-ended section of the new DA220MKII Dear Zach Collier, Thank you for purchasing DA100. <--- Little do they know my money is worthless to them in South Korea As you may heard from the previous users, these equipment is not just a small boxes for the general audiophile but the real hi-end product for the pure music reproduction. <--- What is a general audiophile and why is he not concerned with pure music reproduction? You will see when you receive DA100. <---- Cool, I was just thinking how nice it would be to not have to wear contacts anymore... the DA100 will apparently help with that. Your DA100 are now under burn-in stage and will be shipping before this Friday. <---- My DA100 are eh? They are sending me more then one?!?! All the tracking information will be mailed to you as soon as the product leave the factory. <---- Why are they mailing the tracking info? It will take just as long to get here! Thank you again and we will update you very soon. <--- Good, I am about due for an update anyway! Best regards, hifi500 team
Grand Enigma Posted July 19, 2006 Author Report Posted July 19, 2006 you sellout. Maybe I will cancel that and get a Zhalou instead.
ayt999 Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 well, so Stello is Korean? hmm... guess that's a bit better. you suck
Grand Enigma Posted July 19, 2006 Author Report Posted July 19, 2006 well, so Stello is Korean? hmm... guess that's a bit better. So they claim. April Music seems to be the parent company.
Luco Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 Your DA100 are now under burn-in stage and will be shipping before this Friday. <---- My DA100 are eh? They are sending me more then one?!?! I wonder what kind of sonic improvements placing a DAC under a burning stage brings about?
Grand Enigma Posted July 19, 2006 Author Report Posted July 19, 2006 I wonder what kind of sonic improvements placing a DAC under a burning stage brings about? Yah, I am not sure why it is under there but I hope they don't forget about it. Hopefully it adds some warmth to it.
Dusty Chalk Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 As you may heard from the previous users, these equipment is not just a small boxes for the general audiophile but the real hi-end product for the pure music reproduction. <--- What is a general audiophile and why is he not concerned with pure music reproduction? --> General audiophile only spends hundreds of dollars; real hi-end (as opposed to high-end) is in the thousands of dollars...or at least should be. You will see when you receive DA100. <---- Cool, I was just thinking how nice it would be to not have to wear contacts anymore... the DA100 will apparently help with that. --> It will be flying very fast towards your head, so you will definitely see it coming. It will resemble a very rapidly growing cardboard box. You should probably duck. Your DA100 are now under burn-in stage and will be shipping before this Friday. <---- My DA100 are eh? They are sending me more then one?!?! --> Maybe they're dual monoblocks? All the tracking information will be mailed to you as soon as the product leave the factory. <---- Why are they mailing the tracking info? It will take just as long to get here! --> So they left off one letter, big deal. And if they really did mean "mail", as in "snail", even then, no, packages take longer than letters. Thank you again and we will update you very soon. <--- Good, I am about due for an update anyway! --> GEv2.0!!! Do you get a bigger penis? Does your girlfriend turn into Jennifer Biel or Koo Stark? Or perhaps you just learn how to dance or pilot a helicopter. "Whoa, I know kung fu."
Gabe Logan Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 Hey i was eyeing that one eversince Iron_Dreamer got the DA220.You will now officially be my beta tester for the dac
philodox Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 You should have gotten that 'upgraded hi-end' version with the matching amp... rebranded. Shit, can't find the link... anyone know what I'm talking about?
n_maher Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 Do they have a website or anything? http://www.hifi500.com/product/da100.htm
mjg Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 enjoy it, i've been curious about that one... love the usb feature. my minidac is doing me well, but if anything else i'd consider one of those for 700... what a deal. now just try to hold on to it for more then a few weeks, that will be impressive .
philodox Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 Found it... http://www.russandrews.com/category.asp?src=email094&lookup=1®ion=UK¤cy=GBP&customer_id=PAA1542061606307POQTRVNGHFGWZKTC&cat_id=PRADAC
Patu Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 I might be getting DA100 + HP100 combo very soon also. I've now sold my whole headphone setup so I definitely must find something new.
n_maher Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 I'd love to see a comparison of something like the DA100/HP100 compared to say Headroom's Desktop amp + DAC (home modules / home DAC) since they are pretty price competitve ($1400ish).
ojnihs Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 well, so Stello is Korean? hmm... guess that's a bit better. I'll see if I can find any information on the Stello in any Korean sites, being that I'm fluent in Korean
Grand Enigma Posted July 19, 2006 Author Report Posted July 19, 2006 I'll see if I can find any information on the Stello in any Korean sites, being that I'm fluent in Korean Apparently there are already some shops over there that mod them...
KenW Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 ... I should have a new Stello DA100 The DA100 appears to essentially be the single-ended section of the new DA220MKII Hmmm....another prospect! So have you been able to confirm that it is, indeed, the single-ended section of the MKII?? So, what sort of customs/duties/taxes are you looking at when that baby arrives? Another dac to choose from! At this rate, I'll never make up what little mind I have!
Iron_Dreamer Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 At least from the internal pictures I've seen, it looks quite a bit like a single-ended version of the 220, as far as the output stage and chips used go. However from what I recall, it didn't have seperate transformers for analog and digital, and the transformer is of a different type than the 220's.
ojnihs Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 Apparently there are already some shops over there that mod them... I'll check it out

More research required I suppose! OTOH, I can't wait for GE's impressions as far as the new dac compares to the others(lavry) he's heard. Hurry it up GE!
Iron_Dreamer Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 That's not to say it won't sound great, it probably will, esp. for the price.
Grand Enigma Posted July 20, 2006 Author Report Posted July 20, 2006 The only info I have been able to get out of April Music as to the changes from the MKI to the MKII is they slightly upgraded the psu and filtering. ie perhaps the change from generic transformer to custom toroidals Ken, as for duties, there should not be any. I have yet to ever have to pay duties for items brought into the country.
KenW Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 Well, I checked with hirezaudiovideo.com and they will have the "stack" in a couple of weeks so I won't need to sweat the customs end. Curious about warranty and repairs and who I'd need to return the item to? Wonder if it's hirez or it goes straight back to the manufacturer in Korea? I've been on the fence about the MKII and Lavry plus this little stack and the BelCanto DAC3 but can't seem to make up my mind. The temptation to go balanced has been with me for some time so I'm pretty sure I'd end up taking the plunge if I spent the dough and got the MKII. GE, be sure to post some impressions when you're ready. Very interested in hearing about this dac.
