donunus Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 Can you recommend me the best one for use with pc to NOS DAC
blessingx Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 I wouldn't limit yourself to $60. I just won a $550 USB cable at CanJam. It's big and silvery, though surely not as good as their $1150 model.
Grahame Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 Pah, what self respecting USB cable doesn't have a built in LED. How will the electrons know where to flow, if their path is not illuminated? Amazon.com: Monster Game Ultimate Performance USB Cable with Powerflow Indicator: Electronics (the customer review is a classic )

donunus Posted June 2, 2009 Author Report Posted June 2, 2009 Please, only the people with experience should answer. The rest can suck it if they want to ridicule the question and say bits are bits hahaha
donunus Posted June 2, 2009 Author Report Posted June 2, 2009 ive heard the polestar is really nice. I wonder if its worthy over the cheaper stuff. My 2 usb cables are different sounding and they are both cheap stuff which is why I got interested in getting a decent one. I was a nonbeliever of digital cable sound differences until now.
Smeggy Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 Yes, unprocessed digital 'data' will sound much better on a moar expensive wire.
Fungi Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 I think he's a little D and thought he was still over there.
TzeYang Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 anything structurally decent with a ferrite bead is the most you need.
GPH Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 Some great answers to the OP question in this thread: I need chemistry help (DUE TOMORROW, PLEASE HELP ASAP) - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio
Hopstretch Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 anything structurally decent with a ferrite bead is the most you need. I've read somewhere that the one thing you should probably avoid are ferrites. But who knows? Personally, I recommend purple cables.
TzeYang Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 They suppress EMI interference and serves as some isolation to other connected circuits surrounding it. Though not really significant, it's something that if you can get it for cheap then do so.
luvdunhill Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 I find that NOS DACs are better paired with vintage USB cables. The older the better.
donunus Posted June 2, 2009 Author Report Posted June 2, 2009 I've read somewhere that the one thing you should probably avoid are ferrites. But who knows? Personally, I recommend purple cables. i heard that too which is why im avoiding the kimber cable
aardvark baguette Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 If you're running a stax setup, you actually want to construct a wire with pata wire. More closely matches the stax cable's architecture.
donunus Posted June 2, 2009 Author Report Posted June 2, 2009 Am I in the twilight Zone or in an audiophile forum??? ermmm seacrest out
Pars Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 I find that NOS DACs are better paired with vintage USB cables. The older the better. Yes. You need to ensure that these are bandwidth limited so the bits don't go too fast and pull you out of NOS... I've read somewhere that the one thing you should probably avoid are ferrites. But who knows? Personally, I recommend purple cables. Charles Hansen is probably the origin of this. He claims that they change and degrade the sound over time.
Hopstretch Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 Think it was Gordon Rankin. He says they can cause protocol errors.
