Fungi Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 The obvious solution to using US voltage electronics in Japan is a step up transformer. Or a different AC adapter if that's possible. But say I wanted to use this in Japan. Is it doable without a step up transformer? The IEC inlet on top right says EMI Filter 115V/250V~ 50/60Hz Quote
Currawong Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 I've not had any issues with anything I bought that was set for 110V here. Quote
Nebby Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 I can't view imageshack pictures from work, but if it's rated for 115/250v 50/60hz it'll work fine on 100v Quote
kevin gilmore Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 It will work, but the regulators may be running at the very bottom of their regulation range. So noise and other problems might show up. Quote
Fungi Posted May 26, 2009 Author Report Posted May 26, 2009 It will work, but the regulators may be running at the very bottom of their regulation range. So noise and other problems might show up. Would it be somewhat easily/affordably moddable? Quote
luvdunhill Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 Would it be somewhat easily/affordably moddable? sure, find a transformer that has 110v primaries with the same PCB footprint and pinout as the Talema. Quote
Fungi Posted May 26, 2009 Author Report Posted May 26, 2009 Cool, thanks for the info everyone. Quote
luvdunhill Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 sure, find a transformer that has 110v primaries with the same PCB footprint and pinout as the Talema. Also, maybe you could substitute low dropout regulators, but I'd rather just use another trafo. Those are um, challenging to remove, as there are 8 pins on the trafo that have to all be heated up at once to remove them. Quote
