Les_Garten Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here! Quote
Smeggy Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 Sorry to spoil all the fun but... I finally got to hear the HF2 tonight, and while it's better than most other Grados I've heard it still has that shouty quality I dislike about most Grados. Any attempt at raising the volume made me wince a little. I'm definitely not a Grado guy. Nice to actually give them a whirl though. My fave is still the HF2. Quote

I agree, it's a good phone but still has some issues. In comparing them side by side with the HP-1000 I definitely preferred the HP-1000, which I wish I hadn't sold... Strangely I'm noticing a similar quality in my Smegma Pro, which has me thinking about selling those. Did you ever hear that with yours? Quote
Smeggy Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 A little, yes. Not as much as the Grados though. I can play the Stax quite loud without wincing. Quote

K3cT Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 I adore the HP2 (that's the same as HP1000 right?) but their price really doesn't justify them nowadays IMHO. Quote
Aura Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 I adore the HP2 (that's the same as HP1000 right?) Yup. 3 versions iirc: HP1, 2, and 3. Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 Yeah, Smeggy, if you haven't heard the HP-1000 series (HP-1, HP-2, HP-3), they're probably the least shouty of any of them. Quote

postjack Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 anybody recently studied the market for HF-2 to see what they are fetching? Hard to tell judging by the HF for sale forums, though I am watching to see how vcoheda audiogon auction wraps up. Thinking of selling mine to cover the Oppo purchase, and I do all my headphone listening on the PS1000 now anyhow. Quote

The Monkey Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 Ugh, I think I've got Grattle coming from the left driver. I can't see anything obviously hairy, though. Do I need to open them up? I thought Grattle was one of those things that only happened to other people... Quote
Voltron Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 Just vacuum the driver with your Hoover. Quote
boomana Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 I thought that only worked on discontinued Stax Quote
The Monkey Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 Just vacuum the driver with your Hoover. lol. I was going to preemptively tell you jokers I had already done that. Quote
purrin Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 lol. I was going to preemptively tell you jokers I had already done that. Hoover might be too much. Just suck on it. Or make sure your voice coil is OK - check with a DMM. Or call John Grado - he'll fix it for you in a New York minute. Quote
The Monkey Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 The HF-2 is on its way back to me from Grado. When I asked, via email, I was told "believe the transducers were replaced." I wonder what exactly that means. Quote
skullguise Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 I think it roughly translates to "we hoovered it" Quote
RudeWolf Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 I'd say that the key word this time might be- "believe". Quote
The Monkey Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 Yeah, or "say hello to your brand new SR-60!" Quote
spritzer Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 Aren't they all the same save for some "magic goop"? Quote
Audiojunkie Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 Yeah, or "say hello to your brand new SR-60!" Or PS500s? They measure very closely to the HF-2s. Quote
