HeadphoneAddict
magico q 1 If I won the lotto tomorrow, this would probably be what I'd get. If I played the lotto. I listened to those at RMAF and was disappointed with them, thinking that the Harbeth at a fraction of the cost were clearly better. I thought the Magico had a very V shaped frequency response and the highs were a bit harsh sounding.

skullguise
I've heard a couple pairs of the Magico's, and they CAN sound terribly bright intially, or in the wrong room. Forgot which model it was, the real big tower after the initial Mini's... But I heard them burning in at a dealer in MA; I had to go running from the room. Way to loud, a bit too big for the room, and glare and brightness that hurt my ears. Some doofus was in the room, thinking they were the greatest thing since sliced bread. The sales guy and I shared a smile, though he didn't say anything.... Some time later, heard them in the same room, driven at reasonable levels, and the harshness was all but gone (STILL a little too big for the room, but improvement seemed very good). All that said.....I wouldn't want to spend that much. The laws of diminishing returns come into play for me even if I had that disposable income. I suppose I would like to hear them in a proper room with the right gear, but I still wouldn't spend that much money on them ($25K). Assuming the speakers are actually quite good, then the room/gear setup at RMAF was not a good match at all (not to my ears, Barleyguy, or my son). I'm not sure I would want a speaker to be "that" picky about the room though. I heard some $8K medium-tower speakers at RMAF that were outstanding sounding at any price (I'd have to look up the name latter, but they were built in Memphis and had that in their name). Voltron
After getting kicked in the gut by another bad decision by a judge, I wanted to look at something beautiful so I decided to dream for a couple minutes about the full OMA setup with Imperia speakers. I thought I would share the moment in this disused thread. Talk about sportin' wood...
Torpedo
Sorry for the wrong judge decision . The speakers look OK, I wonder how they sound, never listened to polygonal horns.

blessingx
x2 on the unfortunate judge decision, but maybe the best looking setup I've ever seen. The Mac mini looks a little intimidated though.
Voltron
Sorry for the wrong judge decision . The speakers look OK, I wonder how they sound, never listened to polygonal horns. I agree that they are not the most beautiful, but I have already posted the ones that I have heard and think are much more beautiful looking, which are called the AC1: Those^^ could be the best sounding speakers I have ever heard, and the room arrangement was pretty dreadful. If the InnerFidelity meet happens next year or we can be in NYC at the same time, then we should make a trip to the new Oswalds Mill Audio showroom, which is in the first two pictures above. I think you will be moved like I was. Edited May 22, 2012 by Voltron

Grahame
Al, would wearing one of these get you the day off, er, for contempt of court?
Voltron
I could get some of them speakers? If nothing else, you gotta go to the DUMBO showroom and be blown away. Jonathan even poured several drams of good Scotch during the demo JP and I had with him. Al, would wearing one of these get you the day off, er, for contempt of court? Umm...not my idea of a good day off
Torpedo
Those AC-1 seem more manageable, still too big for these small-yet-expensive Spanish flats. If they moved you that much they must be worth the trip to listen, plus free Scotch never damaged anyone
mikeymad
Thanks for the Pr0n and sorry for the judge... I still have a dream of a lovely horn loaded system pushed by the WE 300B's... Cheers,
swt61
I like the AC-1 a bit better, but I love the Claro Walnut of the first pair. I love the slate subwoofer grill too!
Augsburger
I like them all....decisions, decisions. Thanks for posting Al, my dream system has been expanded. Sorry about the work issue. Voltron
Those AC-1 seem more manageable, still too big for these small-yet-expensive Spanish flats. Now, I should have pointed out that OMA has as horn setup for any size room or any decor: But seriously, these are more manageable from a size and cost perspective. When I heard them they were not being driven by the right equipment and they were strident -- which the owner of OMA recognized fully -- but JP has heard them with more flea-watt type setups and said they were spectacular. I believe him (in this case). What I really want to see is the Imperia with black or brushed steel frame and that gorgeous walnut. THAT WOULD RULE! Aura
I immediately went to OMA's website after you posted those first pics of Imperia, Al. All I can say is... I think the OMA Mini is my new, semi-realistic, semi-practical, dream speaker. I'll never be able to afford the others, but damn. Maybe the Mini could be a gift to myself when I get promoted. Augsburger
Don't knock it if it works. If he is realllly good perhaps he can score a full on AC/Black Knight set up.

And for some reason, that one above pic cracked me up -- it's like taking your date (in her BCD) to a hoedown, with the black on stark white and the barn door in the background. Voltron
Nice imagery, Dusty old man. Oswald's Mill is actually located in an old mill, so they try to keep the aesthetic going even in Manhattan.
