xnor Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 You have to admit it's the hottest picture so far. Yes I'm bored. Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 where are the monoblocks? am i missing part of the picture or part of the joke? They (dual monoblocks) are between the speakers; yes. Quote
jp11801 Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 Huh, the speaker cables both route to an off picture amp? Quote
jp11801 Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 must have left my sense of humor on the hiking trail this morning Quote
crappyjones123 Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 i didnt get the joke either. now i do. ha ha. Quote
Sherwood Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 You have to admit it's the hottest picture so far. The hell I do! That little glow is the plasma tweeter. I guarantee you that piffling fuel-burning fire cannot hold a candle to the goddamn plasma flame in the Lansche speakers. PLASMA. Quote
aerius Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 At an affordable pricepoint, the Acoustic Zen Adagios are pretty swank. Photos don't do justice to the shinyness of the finish. Quote

Yes Acoustic Zens look and sound mighty nice and Robert Lee is a very nice and approachable business owner. Quote
crappyjones123 Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 pardon my ignorance in the matter, but besides efficiency gain what are arrays of speakers good for? wouldnt it be better to just have 1 "good" driver vs 15 "not so good" drivers? or perhaps how would 15 of those "good" drivers differ from using just 1 of them? Quote
cetoole Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 Lower distortion too, since less excursion for a given spl. Of course, what you are asking about is a line array, and there is a lot of available reading material on that subject. Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 That. And also, any variations in manufacturing get "averaged" out.* *Yes, actually, that's "distortion", but I thought I'd just get more specific in one instance. Also, the psychology -- more drivers == more imposing == mas machos. And certainly one good driver, done well, is a magnificent thing. It's just a matter of taste. Quote

crappyjones123 Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 The Octagon perhaps not so much speaker porn. well it is. excellent story as well though. ps. whats going on with extra pages showing up but not actually being there? Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 That actually is pretty cool -- especially since it introduced me to the concept of an acoustically transparent screen -- I was told there is no such thing. And: in-wall speakers can sound extremely good if done well. "Infinite baffle" etc. Quote
crappyjones123 Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 pass labs as in nelson pass labs? those exude power. Quote
grawk Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 No, those are from sherman pass labs Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 Yeah, I stumbled upon them while searching the web for reviews of the Aleph P. Quote
cetoole Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 Didnt Nelson start out designing speakers? Either way, those are, IMO, some of the sexiest speakers I have ever seen. Quote
