digger945 Posted May 29, 2009 Report Posted May 29, 2009 Monitor Audio PL300. I dream about it every day and one day, I will own a set. I lust. I can't thank you enough for posting those pics. Really.
ktm Posted May 31, 2009 Report Posted May 31, 2009 I just got a 10 year pile of stereophile mags from a local guy here in Dallas. The print was so small, I finally broke down and got a pair of reading glasses. But there's lot of pictures. IF we ever finish with speakers, there's always some of those high end turntables, too. Here's a couple sets I can reach out and touch in my office! Damn, I can't find the pictures of the Rega R3's. But's here's Hales, Proacs, and PI's
Knuckledragger Posted May 31, 2009 Report Posted May 31, 2009 Hey, I'd be interested in masturbating to that old pile of magazines perusing them, if you determine that said box still exists. I'd pay shipping both ways and stuff. And/or buy them, if you're interested in letting them go. If I can locate the box, I'm open to that idea. I did ask Mum about it when I was last visiting her. I have some old RPG books and other geeky shit (cough cough Model Railroader) down there as well. She reminded me that the basement flooded in around 1997, and some of that didn't survive. \ I'm hoping the audio mags are okay.
Dusty Chalk Posted May 31, 2009 Report Posted May 31, 2009 Yeah, if they're flood damaged, I should probably pass (highly allergic to mold). Thanks for looking into it, but there's no rush, so whenever is fine.
Hopstretch Posted June 1, 2009 Author Report Posted June 1, 2009 I lust. I can't thank you enough for posting those pics. Really. Looking at the considerate way they've upholstered those rear ports, you could probably even consummate your love if you chose to.
feckn_eejit Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 Looking at the considerate way they've upholstered those rear ports, you could probably even consummate your love if you chose to. Jesus guys, you must have huge cocks, mine would be like a hotdog in a PL300 port hallway.
swt61 Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 Jesus guys, you must have huge cocks, mine would be like a hotdog in a PL300 port hallway. Sorry for your shortcommings, but a little TMI.
Fitz Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 Yeah, and here I was originally gonna make a comment about the ports looking a little too small to use.
Hopstretch Posted June 3, 2009 Author Report Posted June 3, 2009 Audio-Tekne SP-9301S. Price "TBD" but the Ale midranges alone cost $65,000 as parts. From Jonathan Valin's blog about Japanese audio, which I've found pretty interesting.

Dusty Chalk Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 Pfff...if you're going to blow your wad, might as well go all the way...12.2 FTW!
mulveling Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 edit: Oops, think I'm completely wrong on that, 'doh!
Dusty Chalk Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 from TAS Editor Robert Harley on "The Best Stereo System I've Ever Heard"
JBLoudG20 Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 The design looks a lot like the Muon's. Or visa-versa.
Dusty Chalk Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 Almost verbatim. Maybe it's something about the physics of the baffle.
guzziguy Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 Almost verbatim. Maybe it's something about the physics of the baffle. Don't you mean the "metaphysics" of the baffle?
Dusty Chalk Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 No, I don't. Or maybe it's so that it resembles the classic woman's figure/coke bottle shape.
faust3d Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 I would really like to try Cadence Arista (dynamic / electrostatic hybrids). I bet you can guess where they are in the pic above.
tyrion Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 Here is what I've been lusting over recently. They are Salk HT-3's:
