It gets rough sometimes I test them all with a rawhide metal working hammer. about 4 out of 50 chip or break but I think I know why and can avoid it in the future. Throwing them on the wheel is the strongest way to make ceramics. The clay gets compressed in all directions. They can survive a 4 foot drop on cement. I think that someone would be injured long before you would reach the threshold of breaking it. Quote
