Beefy Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 The benefit to slew rate from balanced drive comes from the ACTIVE stages. In the ZDT, the tubes are all run single ended As I understand it, fully balanced SS amps can have much better stereo separation, because the grounds aren't connected. Is it the same for a single ended output stage run through a transformer? Or are they still connected before the transformer?
padam Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 Is this amp powerful enough to drive orthodynamic phones?
mypasswordis Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 That's one hardcore power supply right there
Kees Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 Is this amp powerful enough to drive orthodynamic phones? My balanced Sonett didn't manage to drive my HE-5. Just not enough power (both voltage and current).
diebenkorn Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 The digger up of old threads most certainly gets the shovel.
yazz flute Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 Sorry about the thread bump but I'm considering buying this amp. It's been around for a while now. Any thoughts (about the amp)?
jp11801 Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 it's alright but if it were me I'd be saving my pennies for a EC ZD. The DNA sounded flat and somewhat boring to me.
recstar24 Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 Is there not enough in this thread and Headfi to answer that for you?
yazz flute Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 Obviously not. I was just wondering whether anyone here had some first hand experience with this amp by now and what they thought of it. Hence the thread bump. And yes, I've scoured the other place as well.
