grawk Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 No, see, I'm better because I've been cryo treated
jinp6301 Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 All this USB cable BS aside, I've read some Japanese audio enthusiasts say the Carat Peridot is a good value. The other contender in that category is the iBasso D10 IIRC, can't think of any others at the moment. HeadRoom Portable Micro Amp @ HeadRoom - Right Between Your Ears ?
atothex Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 You guys really don't understand the cryotreatment, do you? It gets made cold, yes, but by the time you use it, it's warmed up again. I bet they do, but people like to make cold jokes for whatever reason, and other people like to take them seriously for whatever reason.
spritzer Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 No, see, I'm better because I've been cryo treated It's no wonder the vikings were moar awesome then anybody else due to the constant cryo treatment up here.
Nebby Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 Quality, as in a part costing a whole dollar!! no way! This definitely bugs me in advertising. "Our product is worth the extra hundred dollars because we spent an extra 25 cents on this part!"
spritzer Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 pfft, the Inuit, man. pffft, they are too cold and drink too much, even by our standards.
grawk Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 The inuit weren't cryotreated, they were deep frozen. It's one thing to have a short term exposure, and another to be lost in the bottom of the freezer.
spritzer Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 You should try and spend a summer up here someday. Bottom of the freezer definitely applies...
deepak Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 You should try and spend a summer up here someday. Bottom of the freezer definitely applies... Ah but with the glaciers melting?
spritzer Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 does beer stay cold outside? that would be awesome. Most of the time, yes. Our proffered way of cooling bear at parties is to simply store it outside. Ah but with the glaciers melting? Good point but it's nothing which hasn't happened before. I wouldn't call 2
Dusty Chalk Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 I'm sure the bear thinks it's already cool.
swt61 Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 (edited) "We start with our cryo-treated USB cable as seen below and then add two layers of shielding, one of these a being a very trick (read expensive!) carbon fiber based material. We also cut the end back a bit, add some ERS fabric and damp the ends and the junction where the end attaches to the cable. These tweaks, while seeming like they would make be insignificant, to our ears, made quite a difference. Why? Hmmm..." I'm going to start my own USB cable company. Fuck the carbon and ERS paper, I'm going to wrap mine in bacon! Edited April 18, 2009 by swt61
Smeggy Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 That is the most awesome idea in audio cables evar!!
cclragnarok Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 I think the cable would be even more awesome if you made the entire thing out of bacon.
Grahame Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 Yes, but can it cut through a steel pan? Bacon: the Other White Heat | Popular Science I hope you remember to use an engineering (or should that be audiophile) grade of bacon.
Dusty Chalk Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 That is the most awesome idea in audio cables evar!!No, the most awesome idea is to use bacon...as a dielectric!
luvdunhill Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 Would that be Barium Cobalt Nitrogen wrapping? Didn't check the periodic table, but I think that would be BaCoN
