Torpedo Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 I'm considering to get one of those services to upload myself some files, and eventually sharing them. Some of you are Megaupload users, others use Rapidshare, Sendspace... At this moment Megaupload is offering a lifetime service with no restrictions for under $200 which I think is a fantastic deal, but if no one else is using that service, it can become quite pointless for some of the purposes. I'd like to read your opinions and recommendations
aardvark baguette Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 Depends on how much space you need. Dropbox is my personal favorite, and offers 2 gigs free online storage, or 50 gigs for $10/mo or $100/yr. You can also just make a crap load of accounts, eliminating the 2 gig cap -------- Windows Sky Drive offers 25 gigs free, but upload size is limited to 50 MB per file. And you have to have a live account. I prefer either of those to most of the others, because you don't have to remember links to files you uploaded months ago; you get the use of a folder system to maintain your files, rather than just uploading everything into outerspace. That said, one that I've just recently discover is Mediafire. As a downloader, it is quite nice in that it doesn't cap you at all; unlimited downloads, unlimited uploads, unlimited bandwidth. And no sign-up required. Plus the upload cap is 100mb per file, which is at least an improvement over Sky Drive.
postjack Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 Sendspace has been my favorite so far. It has a nice program (Sendspace Wizard) that makes uploading easier. Still, 300MB limit and files don't last forever.
jinp6301 Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 I'm a dropbox user. Works great for sharing documents between classmates as well as sharing music
n_maher Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 Up side for rapidshare is ready access to all sorts of online *cough* content.
Torpedo Posted April 10, 2009 Author Report Posted April 10, 2009 Looks like everyone here is using a different service. I thought there was some consensus to make sharing easier and faster, I hate those limitations when you're not a paying subscriber. I agree with Nate, other communities seem to be using Rapidshare as their common service. Thanks for the replies mates. Cheers.
