guzziguy Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 (edited) FIFY Unfortunately that seems to describe the vast majority of organized religions. Edited March 18, 2009 by guzziguy
cclragnarok Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 That's the way the Catholic church is. Here is another story: Nine-Year-Old's Abortion Outrages Brazil's Catholic Church - TIME
swt61 Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 I just think that you guys aren't really seeing the Catholic Churches side of things here. Could you imagine the inconvenience it would cause if everytime a Preist molested a young boy, he had to stop and go get a condom? I mean have some compassion and try to see it from their point of view.

I mean have some compassion and try to see it from their point of view. Harsh, but funny. Seriously, if the catholic religion started by allowing priests to have sex (with women ideally), they would understand a lot of things. News like this make me angry, we're in 2009, not 1938.

aardvark baguette Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 With respect, thats not what he said at all. He's simply against it on moral grounds. I'm not about to defend that position (), but its kind of like the NRA mentality about gun restrictions; give an inch lose a mile. The article also pointed out: The Catholic Church has long been on the front line of HIV care, he said, adding that it is probably the largest private provider of HIV care in the world. Its not like they want people to die, they just put the highest priority towards their idea of morality. Which is exactly why I thank god we have separation of church and state over here

Abstinence is NOT and option.
Smeggy Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 What a fucking dick! Pope = dark ages still.
postjack Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 even in the dark ages they had lamb intestine with a knot on the end.
aardvark baguette Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 What a fucking dick! No, he's not fucking, see?
postjack Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 also abstinence IS an option. we don't have to have sex to live. just saying as an individual choice, NOT as a program to prevent AIDS and unwanted pregnancy.
grawk Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Does this really have to be the place you guys slag the pope?
luvdunhill Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Does this really have to be the place you guys slag the pope? if so, why don't we add Rowan Williams to the mix...
swt61 Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 also abstinence IS an option. we don't have to have sex to live. Speak for yourself buddy! Eventually I'd like to try it with a partner and see what that's all about too.
Dusty Chalk Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 also abstinence IS an option. we don't have to have sex to live. just saying as an individual choice, NOT as a program to prevent AIDS and unwanted pregnancy. But it does prevent spontaneous combustion, so there's that.
