ameyer17 Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 http://ameyer17.com/?p=4 head-fi thread while it lasts: http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=186991
ameyer17 Posted June 29, 2006 Author Report Posted June 29, 2006 maybe it will, maybe it won't. I probably shouldn't have posted anything anywhere but too late it seems. And I'm prepared to get banned (here and at head-fi) if that is the way things turn out
909 Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 why would you be banned here? just ban him to prove he's right
ameyer17 Posted June 29, 2006 Author Report Posted June 29, 2006 Theoretically, you guys could find a reason in the TOS if you wanted to ban me, head-fi does it all the time
909 Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 I seriously doubt you or anyone for that matter will get ban. I am just joking around.
909 Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Your thread no longer exists on Head-Fi. It is gone.
ameyer17 Posted June 29, 2006 Author Report Posted June 29, 2006 hmm... that is bizarre that my thread disappeared . Oh well.
909 Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Bizarre is something out of the ordinary or unusual... When I saw your thread, I knew it was only a matter of time before the powers that be vaporized it. That wasn't bizarre that was within the normal course of business. I didn?t expect anything else. I would have done the same thing. I can't imagine how it would feel to have my telephone number released on Head-Fi (even work) and the potential of receiving hundreds of telephone calls from Head-Fiers all around the world. Hello, is Jude there? Then probably after you couldn't take another call you would change your number.
ameyer17 Posted June 29, 2006 Author Report Posted June 29, 2006 I believe you're correct. I wasn't thinking and even the blog post is gone (completely voluntatrily). I feel really bad and am glad I wasn't banned. I honestly don't know why I wasn't.
909 Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Probably because the information you posted is publicly accessible by anyone with time, a working computer, and an internet connection.
ameyer17 Posted June 29, 2006 Author Report Posted June 29, 2006 If I may ask this, could someone with power lock this and make it disappear. I feel so shitty.
Yikes Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 I believe that he researched and found Judes private phone number. Then posted it!?! If I were a Head-Fi mod I?d ban him. That's the very definition of malicious.
Post Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 while here we just get the pleasure of seeing him crumple in public. who is this guy anyhow?
ojnihs Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Boy, I'm slightly confused as to what's going on here...course I didn't see the thread or anything. I'm with Jahn on this one.
grawk Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 That's why we don't delete threads here. If you're an ass, you get to be on display for it.
909 Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 I believe every website has an informational background page that the creator(s) and/or owner(s) fill out. Usually, it has some contact information like a brick and mortar address and telephone number among other things. Anyone can find this information online about nearly any website. It?s like the webs yellow-pages. This publicly accessible Head-Fi contact information got posted on Head-Fi. It included Jude's full name, an address, and telephone number all of which most likely were provided by Jude at some point. Additionally, this info led to another website that lists a work number for Jude too.
acs236 Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 If he just poested the whois information, why did it require 10 minutes of research?
Filburt Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 That was info Neil/Jude himself disclosed voluntarily, presumably knowing full well it would be publicly accessible. I don't really understand what the commotion is about.
Dusty Chalk Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Theoretically, you guys could find a reason in the TOS if you wanted to ban me, head-fi does it all the timeDude, that's the whole point of this place. It's like the island of misfit toys -- those who get banned on Head-Fi come here to brag about it. If I may ask this, could someone with power lock this and make it disappear. I feel so shitty. You really are new here, and don't know how things work! If he just poested the whois information, why did it require 10 minutes of research? dialup?
n_maher Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 That was info Neil/Jude himself disclosed voluntarily, presumably knowing full well it would be publicly accessible. I don't really understand what the commotion is about. I think it falls under the heading of "just because it's out there doesn't mean that it has to be advertised". P.s. Imagine the damage that Jagwire could do with a phone number!?!!
grawk Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Look at it like this: Just because your phone number is in the phone book, do you want it posted on the NAMBLA website?
