mypasswordis Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 [url=http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f4/confirmed-grado-ps1000-coming-410581/]The SR325i is now the SR325is I lol'd.
tkam Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 If Grado is smart the PS1000 will be as close to the PS-1's as possible.
xand1x Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 If the PS1000 are PS-1 duplicates that REALLY sucks for the people who recently purchased them off eBay for a small fortune.
Duggeh Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 All the JAG# PS-1s sold for big money. John Grado knows that theres a very comfy margin for a successor product, massive interest in the HD800 confirms this for him. Seems a sound business decision to me. I bet those new wooden boxes will sell pretty well too.
foo_me Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 awesome!...can finally get a box for my RS1s
Dreadhead Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 those poor PS-1 buyers are going to be pissed
jinp6301 Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 Hmm, I wonder if many HD800 pre orders are gonna be canceled because of this
penger Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 My guess is that people who liked the Grado sound probably didn't spring for HD800s in the first place.
Salt Peanuts Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 those poor PS-1 buyers are going to be pissed Well, they are the ones that at least partially confirmed there's market for a successor.
jinp6301 Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 My guess is that people who liked the Grado sound probably didn't spring for HD800s in the first place. dont know about that. The 800 is supposed to not sound like the traditional senn sound so many grado fans might have still went for it.
Beefy Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 My guess is that people who liked the Grado sound probably didn't spring for HD800s in the first place. Surely having complementary phones with different sound signatures is a good thing. Use the right tool for the job.
postjack Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 dont know about that. The 800 is supposed to not sound like the traditional senn sound so many grado fans might have still went for it. Yeah, to me whenever I hear a headphone is "fast" like the 800 sounds like it is going to be, I think Grado. I think the whole line up revision is pretty lame, but I like the idea of a regular production PS-1. It would suck to be somebody who paid three or four grand for a JAGBAY CHROME but I don't feel bad for them. I remember when I jokingly referred to a GS2000/new Grado flagship a year ago. I'm pretty shocked a new one has come this early. Here's hoping the debut is at Canjam. EDIT: march 1st debut, i didn't read the HF thread.
aerius Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 If Grado is smart the PS1000 will be as close to the PS-1's as possible. Sure hope so, it would make a great pairing with RS-1, between them I'll have all my music covered. And bass, as much as I like my RS-1's I do miss the PS-1 bass.
Knuckledragger Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 The "i" is for "inferior." I'm really curious what the new RS1 iteration will look like. </snark>
GPH Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 The price seems kind of high if it's just a remastered PS-1. Anyway, I'll never spend big bucks like that on a headphone without the Stax name on it.
aerius Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 The SR125 is now the SR125i The SR225 is now the SR225i The SR325i is now the SR325is You know, I'm not sure if these are headphones or BMW model numbers anymore...
Smeggy Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 It's the new Grado injection series, they gave up on normally aspirated cans. It's nice to see a new flagship that might actually be worth that title.. if it's close to the old models.
atothex Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 Senn is moving forward, while Grado is moving backward, eh? Funny how we see both as good things....
Deadneddz Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 Knuckledragger, Pics of all the new models are on the grado labs website minus the PS1000. The RS1i looks like the buttonless version RS1s, nothing really different that i can tell. Although I prefer electrostatics, grados/alessandros interested me from the very start and i enjoy my ms1 to this very day. With the PS1000 coming, maybe its time to invest in a dynamic rig too. Hopefully this new offering will not be like the GS1000. Not a great can imo.
