jinp6301 Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 someone should make a list of cdp's that have digital inputs there arent that many iirc
Dreadhead Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 That Sony makes me drool every time I see it. It's too bad it makes absolutely no sense for me in because there is no way to apply EQ to it unless I want to either re-digitize (then no advantage to the dac) or use analog eq with all the phase issues that entails. I've played with my EQ enough to know that I'm not going back listening to without it (or a similar unit). Unless of course the HD800s are so transparent that I don't need eq anymore
Salt Peanuts Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 This is good news. I've been wanting to get a good sacd player with the new bluenote subscription, and at this price I can imagine possibly getting a second one for the office. How is it with redbook? Dew eet (getting the player, that is). I'm tempted myself, too, with the plan to buy the Gray/Hoffman SACD remasters. I do with it had a digital in, though, as I've gotten used to the convenience of using iMac/Duet combo.
aardvark baguette Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 Same here, usb/toslink input would be much appreciated. I'm super tempted with this. I dont own too many SACDs yet, but am subscribed to the hoffman ones. What I'm really eager to find out is if this new player only excels at sacd, or if it handles redbook nicely too. Thats the clincher right there. Im only going to use the XLR out tho. If I can just manage to stop buying so much music, I should be able to swing one or two of these

aardvark baguette Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 several hundred new CD's. a.k.a. "Wednesday"
Salt Peanuts Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 a.k.a. "Wednesday" Yes, but you're insane (in a good way, of course). The player is getting more tempting now that it appears I'm getting back a lot more than I was expecting on my tax return.

randerson3024 Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 That is the 6BX7 Stax amp that was very popular in Japan in the mid 90's. That particular amp was built by the guy which owns the SR-Omega fan site in Japan. The T2 has no links to the 007t as that is just a variation of the T1 design. The BH was Kevin's take on the T2 type of amp. What's that URL?
vvs_75 Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 Single box sony scd-5400es seems to be the best thing on the planet right now regardless of price. $1200 Over 25 million dollars spent on designing the new dac's for the thing. Kevin, have you heard Azur 840c? I guess so, could please elaborate on how much the scd -xa5400es better? Thanks
luvdunhill Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 Kevin, have you heard Azur 840c? I guess so, could please elaborate on how much the scd -xa5400es better? Thanks just a wild guess, but I'd guess the scd-xa5400es has better SA-CD playback.
vvs_75 Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 The Azur can't play SACDs, but I have SACD player that I can use through Azur digital input. I am more curious on DACs analog outputs. The price between two players very small.
Dusty Chalk Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 I have SACD player that I can use through Azur digital input.Doesn't work like that -- SACD, digital is turned off. (Wouldn't be compatible anyway -- DSD vs. PCM. At least, not in the traditional digital transmission way, HDMI is something different.)
vvs_75 Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 Yes, I forgot. I don't have SACDs so I do not worry much about them. I was thinking about Redbook cds.
