Duggeh Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 I want a seperate volume dial for the Aleph, at the minute its run off the second set of pre-outs on the NAD. Means I have to fanny around with the switchbox and I'd like rid of that irritation. Cheapest pre-amp i've spotted is the little pro-ject box at
n_maher Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 I'd be on the hunt for a used Luminous Audio Axiom preamp.
Duggeh Posted January 17, 2009 Author Report Posted January 17, 2009 Saltpeanuts had one for sale a while ago. I don't know what the input specs of my amp are though for configuring one. Unless that doesn't matter much.
spritzer Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 If you have some sort of a volume pot and an enclosure then the only thing you need is some RCA jacks. The input goes to one pin of the pot, the output is the next one and then there is ground. It's even easier then pie... There there should be some passive pre kits on ebay...
tom_hankins Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 Can you use a little passive like the Creek or something?
jp11801 Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 sonically you are better off with an axiom or the evs attentuators frankly either are great solutions. I have both and the axiom is easier from a functional standpoint but I recommend short interconnects and a source that has a standard output volume or higher.
Dusty Chalk Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 Can you use a little passive like the Creek or something? This would be my recommendation as well, if your impedances will let you. Small footprint, to boot.
