luvdunhill Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 I just can't bring myself to build anything that doesn't glow anymore LED + BJT CCS FTW! Quote
dBel84 Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 so does BJT stand for blow yourself while standing on a transistor and the led is for that inner glow - need some yoga lessons first , I need to get back to work and stop procrastinating. I have vowed to hang up my soldering iron but keep getting pulled to build something else , what is it with this hobby and the addiction. I am guessing you should all be sitting in a big circle and telling your sad tale. yes yes, I've hogged and distracted enough, back on track for the K1000 love ..dB Quote
swt61 Posted March 6, 2009 Author Report Posted March 6, 2009 I just can't bring myself to build anything that doesn't glow anymore Oh trust me, the β22 can put off one hell of a glow. Just ask luvdunhill. Quote
Torpedo Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 Oh trust me, the β22 can put off one hell of a glow. Just ask luvdunhill. Hehehehe, first time I fired up mine, it looked like a Christmas tree Quote
Spiug31 Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 Hehehehe, first time I fired up mine, it looked like a Christmas tree The low angled ceilling above mine accentuates that, it`s a pretty amp in the dark Quote
swt61 Posted March 7, 2009 Author Report Posted March 7, 2009 You missed my point. I was refering to actual flames dancing out of the vent holes on the top of the amp. Not little whimpy flames, big hot dog roasting flames! Houston Head-Fi Meet 10/25/2008 Impressions - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted March 7, 2009 Report Posted March 7, 2009 Goddamn, that woo setup is gorgeous. Which amp is that? (wanders off to look up moar woo audio pitchers) Quote
swt61 Posted March 7, 2009 Author Report Posted March 7, 2009 Which one? Woo sent a bunch of amps for us to audition. They were quite nice. Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted March 7, 2009 Report Posted March 7, 2009 This pic: ...is the one that got my attention, not just for the Woo amp (which I looked, and they all come in that black on black look), but also for whatever that thing is off to the right. Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted March 7, 2009 Report Posted March 7, 2009 Thanks, I'll have to read impressions. Quote
padam Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 Another K1K popped up on a local auction site. The Hungarian Forint is still ludicrously weak so it is no more than 500 EUR (or 630 USD). The serial number is 09145. Damn, I need to sell something... Quote
Torpedo Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 Mmm at that price I wouldn't mind getting a pair, just for collection sake Quote
Torpedo Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 Diu et I suppose you're addressing that to Padam, I not even know where to bid for them Quote
GPH Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 I received the K1000 today and I have to say I'm way more impressed than I thought I would be. I've been listening to a couple of tracks out of the Trends and it's definitely a more enjoyable combo than the SRD-7 Pro/Lambda Sig. The AKG sound more natural, particularly the mids, while I've always found the Lambda Sig to sound a bit artificial. It lacks a little bit of low bass like I expected, but bass quantity in general is certainly not lacking. I'll post more impressions later. P.S. How would I know if my K1000 is part of the supposed bass-heavy of bass-light batch? Serial number is 04333. Quote
Icarium Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 Should be bass heavy... there isnt a cut and dried line but low serial # trends towards being darker/more bass quantity and 10k = better highs/air/brighter Quote
jigster Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 My 10k+ K1K is sounding quite punchy in the bass dept though, was quite surprised by it as I was expecting the same results as my previous 7k+. Most of my mates agree that the bass was sufficiently impressive, not what they expected from reading about K1Ks. But then again for most of them, this was the 1st time they've heard a K1K.. duh. It was connected to a Gryphon Tabu (30 watts dual mono), which was quite nice. Quote
jigster Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 ooops sorry, made a mistake as my pal had pointed out to me that the Tabu is 80watts/channel not 30watts. Quote
swt61 Posted November 24, 2009 Author Report Posted November 24, 2009 I have the bass light K1K, but when listening through the Woo 300B amp at a recent Houston meet the bass was astounding. I couldn't believe an amp could make such a drastic difference. Marc (luvdunhill) also had the same reaction when hearing it. Quote
jigster Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 Anyone know how I can remove the red support bars? Can seem to figure out how its removed. There seem to be 4 plastic screws holding them but the screws get damaged when you put a screwdriver to them and turn. Dang. Anyone opened/removed them before? Thanks. Quote
