Chekhonte Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 I know he's ugly but he's so sweet and friendly that I couldn't resist him at the animal shelter. Don't let his gruff, wild cat like looks fool you, he's the friendliest cat I've met. He starts to purr as soon as anybody enters the rooms he's in.
Chekhonte Posted December 26, 2008 Author Report Posted December 26, 2008 he's a selkirk rex pure bred. In the 80's a mutant british shorthair was born with curly hair and picked up by a persian breeder. He bred them with his persians and exotic shorthairs and the selkirk rex came into being. Mine is bred with an exotic shorthair.
Chekhonte Posted December 26, 2008 Author Report Posted December 26, 2008 I'm glad you guys think he looks cool too. One other thing about him is that he doesn't have ear hair or many whiskers to speak of since that type of hair is brittle and breaks off before it can get very long. What few whiskers he does have curle around like a crazy savador dali mustache
Augsburger Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 Actually, I think he is pretty cool looking and having a loving personality is a big plus. Congratulations! What's his name?
Chekhonte Posted December 26, 2008 Author Report Posted December 26, 2008 we haven't named him yet. We've been looking at names of roman senators. Gaius Cassius Longinus (pronounced like vagina)is one we think is funny but I don't think I want to name my cat that.
Knuckledragger Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 His expression say "Damn paparazzi!"
Chekhonte Posted December 26, 2008 Author Report Posted December 26, 2008 how about Lucius Valerius Flaccus? Flaccus was Horus the poet's sir name which means floppy eared if I remember. He would be called lucius of the valerii (long "I" sound at the end) which is pretty cool. EDIT: I just did a search of him and he was close friends with the senator Cato who is one of my favorite characters in the HBO series Rome.
riceboy Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 He looks cute. It's people like you that put a smile on my face when I volunteered at the animal shelter and gave our furry friends a good new home .
thrice Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 Call him Dr. Snuggles. Awesome cat! There are some real LOLcat pics there.
Hopstretch Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 He's a very interesting-looking felloALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOCAT!
diebenkorn Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 That is one awesome cat. What about Charles Bukowski for a name?
Torpedo Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 He looks like quite prone to lose his temper, kind of serious and almost angry. More or less like myself when I just get up in the morning
Blackmore Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 Name him RAMBO or RABBLE...Oh wait, PUTIN or DE NIRO, yeah, are you talking to me?!!!
Salt Peanuts Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 Definitely a cool looking kitten you got there!
kirkwall Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 Congrats -- great cat!!! Those Selkirks are really beautiful, and I love the compact, bulldog stance. I've got a Siberian -- 22 pounds and still growing. k
Dusty Chalk Posted December 27, 2008 Report Posted December 27, 2008 Kinda ugly? Are you kidding? He's gorgeous. I mean, I know he looks like a white cat covered in soot, but...I don't know, just makes me want to pick him up and hug him.
Chekhonte Posted December 27, 2008 Author Report Posted December 27, 2008 I'm really glad that you guys like him too. When I say that he's ugly I mean that he's ugly in the cutest possible way. He is really growing on me now that he's becoming more and more comfortable in my home.
