Voltron Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 So something got left out of the "what hasnt' changed" list To clarify it, you can add "Squeezebox 3" to the In list for Mayberry Family Speaker Rig or whatever it's called.
grawk Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 We only love you because we're jealous. Or something...
swt61 Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 Let's see if I can remember everything. Purchased: I bought several turntables, and ended up building one and selling the others. I conned Marc into building all the essential paraphernalia needed for a vinyl rig. I purchased a vintage Sansui tuner that I really like, purchased an Opera Consonance integrated amp and some Omega speakers. I had a TPA Darwin balanced source selector built. I bought a pair of Sennheiser HD 580, NAD RP18, Yamaha HP-1, APS recabled Ety ER4P & Klipsch Image X10 headphones/IEMs. And just recently I bought my first AKG K1000. Sold: I sold my long term Paradigm Reference Active 20 monitors, my PS Audio PCA-2 preamp, TPA Zapfiltered Opus DAC. And quite recently I sold my beloved AKG K340, Chocolate Donut MkII, AKG K240 Sextett, NAD RP 18 & Yamaha HP-1 headphones.
atothex Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 I started out the year as a total nub, and I guess I still am, but here goes: in: AD2000 W10VTG HD650 Pro 2500 KSC75 DT770 DT880 Image X5 ER6i Pico DAC PPX3 and adapters ghetto vintage amp/radio Boston speakers out: Pro 2500 KSC75 PX100 DT880 ER6i for 09: balanced shiz trade W10VTG for vintage RS1? sell HD650? possibly move to a nicer place and get nice speaker stuff
postjack Posted December 23, 2008 Author Report Posted December 23, 2008 That is kind of you to note, Tyler. I certainly don't amass stuff to say I have it. I use this stuff daily and did the desktop rig upgrade because I listen more in my office than I typically can at home. Its also OK with me if you buy more gear.
deepak Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 2009: the year I run all my upgrades by postjack first
Dusty Chalk Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 No moar new gears approvals in '09!
postjack Posted December 23, 2008 Author Report Posted December 23, 2008 2009: the year I run all my upgrades by postjack first Yeah Al is cool for 2009, but I can't be expected to let all y'all run around buying gear unfettered. A simple email or phone call would be appreciated before any purchase.
deepak Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 2009: the year I expect to miss out on many good deals

postjack Posted December 23, 2008 Author Report Posted December 23, 2008 Jack, will you be my Life Gear Coach too? I insist.
tyrion Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 I insist. Excellent but it's a huge undertaking. Others have tried and failed miserably. Look at Jp, he thought he could handle it and he is as bad as me. That's just my way of saying that there are risks.

n_maher Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 I know you're missing several pairs of stats from that list nate Shhhh!
tyrion Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 Shhhh! Fess up. This is the audiophiles Yom Kippur (Day of Attonement for my brothers of other religions). Confess your audio sins and start with a clean slate for next year.
n_maher Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 Ok, fine. Bought 2x Koss ESP 950 SR Lambda Pro SRM1 MKII Sold 2x Koss ESP 950 SR Lambda Pro SRM1 MKII
guzziguy Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 Fess up. This is the audiophiles Yom Kippur (Day of Attonement for my brothers of other religions). Confess your audio sins and start with a clean slate for next year. This is a great idea for a separate thread. I'll add my sin here. A mod can decide whether to split this out or not. I only committed one audio sin in 2008. I bought a Bendix 6385 tube for my Extreme. It's a great tube but it cost $200. If I had it over, I wouldn't have audio sinned this year.
Sherwood Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 I endorse the posited "Audio Confessional" (no slight to you and the rest of the chosen, Mike, but we might need more than one day a year). My sin this year? I recabled a KSC-75 with cryo-treated wire, even though I knew it was a bad idea. I even bought some cryo-treated plugs for other applications.
Voltron Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 The Cryo Craptacular! I'm glad Nate got called out to come clean on his list too. At least I have a little more company now. I like the audio confessions idea, but Mike made it all Jewy and then Sherwood made it all Papal with the confessional reference. How about something more secular altogether like "Confessions of the Compulsive Audiophile" or "Oops I did it again" or some such.
