faust3d Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 Nine Days Wonder - Nine Days Wonder (1971)
GPH Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 Dream Theater - Black Clouds And Silver Linings (2 leaked tracks) Unfortunately, it sucks ass like their last 3 albums. James Labrie's voice is not even the shadow of what it once was and the vocal melodies are uninspired at best. The instrumentals are just mindless wanking once again and the songwriting is piss poor like on Systematic Chaos. I can't believe they are the same guys (except for the keyboardist) that wrote classics like Images & Words and Awake. I've stopped being a fan after the release of Octavarium and decided to stop seeing them live after the Systematic Chaos tour, but now I'm officially handing my resignation letter.
GPH Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 dream theater was always mindless wanking, as far as i'm concerned. Yeah, maybe, but previously it was "controlled" mindless wanking and only for short amounts of time. Now it's just uninspired mindless wanking taking half of the song. Their older albums had more of a 80s melodic metal feeling, nowadays it seems like they get their inspiration from crappy nu-metal bands and other bands that I don't enjoy like Muse.
deepak Posted April 19, 2009 Author Report Posted April 19, 2009 And Dream Theater's singer has always sucked.
GPH Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 Muse is great. there's your problem. I've tried pretty hard to get into them after several suggestions from friends, but they're one of those bands whose melodies just don't appeal to me, along with Radiohead.
Fungi Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 Muse is just very crafted. I don't know how to say it, but I really can't enjoy it. It's not bad, just... something.
GPH Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 I'd like Radiohead if it was an instrumenal band, but I can't stand Thom Yorke's whining voice. [/sacrilege]
jinp6301 Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 I'd like Radiohead if it was an instrumenal band, but I can't stand Thom Yorke's whining voice. [/sacrilege] I like radiohead and even I think that Thom has a whiny voice as for me
Voltron Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 I like Radiohead in part because of Thom's voice.
LFF Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 I'd like Radiohead if it was an instrumenal band, but I can't stand Thom Yorke's whining voice. [/sacrilege] I can't stand his voice either. I think Radiohead is ok.
GPH Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 Impellitteri - Wicked Maiden Some ammo for those I offended by criticizing Radiohead.
Dusty Chalk Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 dream theater was always mindless wanking, as far as i'm concerned. No, they used to be mindful wanking.

faust3d Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 Gila - Gila (1971) This one back in print on Second Battle with mini poster. Good stuff.
Dreadhead Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 CBC Radio 2 online feed. OK but not great now they've gone more eclectic and are not pure classical anymore. I forgot my Creative Zen Vision M at home
aardvark baguette Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 I can handle Radiohead in small doses. But like almost anything else in life, too much is a bad thing.
en480c4 Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 Lacuna Coil - Shallow Life Is it as good as Unleashed Memories, or Comalies? No. Does it deserve the venom being spewed upon it by Lacuna Coil "fans"? Not at all. Sure, it's an obvious effort towards mainstream success, but that's not always a bad thing.
