aardvark baguette Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 Wow, the earliest thing I have by them is Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy, I didn't realize there was anything before that. Its the first album from them I've heard, only being vaguely familiar with them by name, previously. There's other earlier material too, including some stuff that doesnt show up on Amazon or the wikipedia discography (?) The self-titled debut (as far as I can tell) is even better than Tight, and much different. I acquired both last night online

GPH Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 Et Cetera - s/t Great obscure 70s prog band from Quebec. Sounds very similar to Gentle Giant with a woman voice and lyrics in French.

mirumu Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Kelley Polar - I Need You to Hold on While the Sky Is Falling
Dusty Chalk Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Kelley Polar - I Need You to Hold on While the Sky Is Falling I was recently listening to Love Songs of the Hanging Gardens and I forgot how much I dug that album. How does the new one compare? Nevermind, I need to go listen for myself... EDIT: Listening to this, more or less.

Nevermind, I need to go listen for myself... EDIT: Listening to this, more or less. I've still yet to hear Love Songs of the Hanging Gardens myself. It's definitely on my list as I Need You to Hold on While the Sky Is Falling has been one of my favourite albums in recent months.
Dusty Chalk Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Well, after sampling the new one, I like the first one better, but it's different -- more disco-y, less experimental. Which is odd, because I usually prefer experimental. But it's got a charisma that the new one doesn't -- with admittedly only one listen. I'll probably still get it.
