Voltron Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 Fucking elk ghosts are so needy. Now playing on SACD: Dead Can Dance -- In the Realm of a Dying Sun
Voltron Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 It is the MFSL of that. I have all of them.
faust3d Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 Morton Subotnick - And the Butterflies Begin to Sing (1997)
mypasswordis Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 As it should be. note: never heard of the above people
mypasswordis Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 I'll bet. I hate that none of the soloists of today measure up to even half of what the greats were (no offense to them). Kanye's newest album. Have to compare it against some Mozart. Not Mozart opera, that would make me want to kill myself.
mypasswordis Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 (edited) Based on my experiences, I wouldn't agree with you. There are so many people (the vast majority) in grade school who play an instrument just to have something to write on their resume. And most music graduates from my uni don't end up with jobs in music. I don't see how they could. Edit: No, haven't heard of him. But he's a DeLay student, which is funny because that's what 90% of people from that era (the era before DeLay died) write on their resumes, even if they only had 2 or 3 lessons with her. I'm sure he's a decent violinist, more or less. Edited November 29, 2010 by mypasswordis
mypasswordis Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 Still not sure I agree with you. The orchestra I have the most experience with is obviously the NSO, I studied under the co-concert mistress or whatever her position is, she was okay but not great, and I would say the same about the orchestra. We should find a cellist and a pianist and get that Messiaen quartet thing going.
mypasswordis Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 Yeah, I definitely feel like I need six months of hard work, no engineering bullshit getting in the way, to actually get good. And sure, that'd be great.
luvdunhill Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 I guess I was a DeLay student then. Might as well add Galamian on there too.
Dusty Chalk Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 Have to compare it against some Mozart.(ponders this)
jinp6301 Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 As it should be. note: never heard of the above people on er-6i (the only working headphone in the apartment ) + m3 + pico album is ok but man er6i amped sounds amazing

Torpedo Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 I wonder how the KW new disc got a 10 points review at Pitchfork Like numbers said it's more or less OK, but IMHO not much more than that. Or I'm growing very very old and hate when other musician's compositions are used to make money with pop music. Now listening to Gustav Mahler - 8th Symphony (Solti, CSO, Popp, Kollo...)
Torpedo Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 Duffy - Endlessly Her slow fluttering vibrato is starting to annoy me. Don't know really want to think.
Torpedo Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 (edited) Shit, don't know how it happened but double post. Oh well, then this one which you probably don't know and have listened this morning too Edited November 29, 2010 by Torpedo
Voltron Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 Duffy - Endlessly Her slow fluttering vibrato is starting to annoy me. Don't know really want to think. One thing I think is that they sure have softened her looks for that cover.
