Repeat listens in it are all the more rare. The lyrics are what pulled me in to this one, followed by the use of (gasp) dynamics (not used to this w/ this genre), and also listening to it in completion was key. This one needs to be heard as an album, as far as I'm concerned. I tried skipping around and it lost some of its magic. I do hear alot of genres here though, maybe even a bit of a Pinback clean tone in places, if a bit more nasal. Guitars have a kind of Tool vibe in the soft passages, if you sped up the average Tool riff just a bit. I'm surprised, I usually only listen to one or two songs from their past albums. This is a protools-laden electronic-type of album, if someone like ELO made such a thing. Fantastic.
