Knuckledragger Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 One of my favorite ambient dub albums, even after 15 years. Mat Jarvis's ethereal analogue string patches and minimalist portamento melodies are the stuff of legend. What I'm realizing now, with the advantage of a decade and a half of reflection, is that the song structure of the more beat-oriented tracks is essentially oldskool UK rave, slowed down and spaced out to Biosphere-like levels.
Salt Peanuts Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 Cowboy Junkies - The Trinity Session
Salt Peanuts Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 Diana Krall - The Girl In The other Room
Hopstretch Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 PJ Harvey -- To Bring You My Love Again. Kinda surprised to not see her pop up here more often among our female-fronted metal crowd. She's not metal, but she's dark as hell and can really rock out.
Salt Peanuts Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots
Salt Peanuts Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 A Fine Frenzy - One Cell In The Sea
Dusty Chalk Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 em:t...mmmm....I have all of their CD's, except some from the second life. Me: Just finished Rarum Vol. 3 (Gary Burton -- "B&G (Midwestern Night's Dream)" is sublime), Rarum Vol. 4 (Bill Frisell) on deck.
Hopstretch Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 ^^^ That's a killer album. Soundgarden -- Superunknown

faust3d Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 Various Artists - The World According to Crammed (1993)
shellylh Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 ^^^ That's a killer album. I wasn't happy when I had to stop it half way through and go to a seminar.
Dusty Chalk Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 I should listen to that again. The only thing I ever listen to is "Fear Satan" (usually via Kicking a Dead Pig). I imagine listening to that album without listening to "Fear Satan" is kinda sucky.
Aimless1 Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 Two NPR desk top concerts. At least Brooklyn Fire was interesting. Moved on to the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast.
DigiPete Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 Listening to this through my new Modwright preamp which just arrived today Louis and Ella
