Dusty Chalk Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 It's loungier than I expected, Dusty.I didn't find it so -- meaning "than expected" -- because I always find that they have at least one or two lounge-y tracks (Rhythm Divine, Of Course I'm Lying, etc.). And they often have a sweeping majestic instrumental such as the last track, too. But yeah, that duet -- I think that's the first time they've ever attempted that. I suspect they found something in that singer that they really liked, since they feature her on three tracks. That part is definitely unusual. And she definitely is bringing the lounge.
xand1x Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Blackfield - s/t Man I think I like this better then most PT material Yeah this album is solid for sure...I liked it much better than the sequel Blackfield II. The vocals and atmosphere on the first one are just so haunting

faust3d Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Джунгли - Весна В Шанхае / Шесть Марокканских Ямщиков (2006) This two CD set is basically everything that Джунгли (Jungle) recorded over many years of their existence. This band was one of the few unusual Russian bands like Странные Игры (Strange Games) and HOM (NOM) that stylistically were outside of "русский рок" (russian rock) music that dominated USSR music at that time. Elements of RIO, Jazz and abstract instrumental rock. Great and undervalued band.

Dusty Chalk Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Move D Namlook XVII: There! -- The music is between house, deep musical ambience and chill-out accompanied by occasional speech samples of political content (e.g. [one of?] Obama's "Yes We Can" speech[es?]).
