parhelictriangle Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 ' Koenjihyakkei - Nivraym (apparently re-recorded and re-released?) Magma-style corny choral Zeuhl led by Yoshida Tatsuya = epic, wonderful weirdness. Tatsuya is definitely one of my favorite percussionists. Still prefer the more direct stop-start frenzy of Ruins, but this is classic. I like Koenjihyakkei's next album, Angherr Shisspa, a bit better than this (feels a bit more serious and less in the Vander-worship mode). Edit: note: this is probably an. . . acquired taste.
Dusty Chalk Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 No worries, there are others of us whose tastes needed ...acquiring.

Hopstretch Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 have you heard the new one? i have a fantastic 24/96 needledrop that i might be prepared to share... I might have heard that. Not that keen on The Hazards Of Love so far. Feels a bit forced. But their stuff tends to grow on me. Donald Fagen -- The Nightfly

Dusty Chalk Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 ...which sounds a lot like the 28 Days/Weeks Later soundtrack(s) (to me, anyway). Still, I'll get it eventually, because I loved it.

Hopstretch Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 (edited) Malcolm Middleton -- Into The Woods This is lowish-fi, but I think some of you would probably dig it too. Edited July 14, 2009 by Hopstretch
n_maher Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 Imogen Heap -- First Train Home (New single) How was it? I haven't been able to find it anywhere yet.
Dusty Chalk Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 Spyro Gyra, Good to Go-Go on SACD -- not as jazz-lite as I was concerned it would be. Digging the bass -- modern production techniques.
Voltron Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 How was it? I haven't been able to find it anywhere yet. I like it. Her voice has the same quality but the instrumentation seems a bit more big, lush and orchestral than the last one. Interested to hear what the album sounds like.
