Voltron Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 Totally agree Deepak. His bass playing is great and simply awesome on many of the tracks.
deepak Posted December 22, 2008 Author Report Posted December 22, 2008 Totally agree Deepak. His bass playing is great and simply awesome on many of the tracks. I agree. And that is the best I've heard Willie sound. Hoffman should really master a lot more blues. His Lightnin' Hopkins DCC Gold is another good one.

Knuckledragger Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 In spite of the awful name, the music is excellent.
Salt Peanuts Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 To continue the theme from last night - Johnny Coles - Little Johnny C
Voltron Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 I agree. And that is the best I've heard Willie sound. Hoffman should really master a lot more blues. His Lightnin' Hopkins DCC Gold is another good one. The other blues records I got from the 100 greatest on 45 RPM are also great. Lightnin' Hopkins - Last Night Blues with Sonny Terry, Lightnin' Hopkins - Lightnin', and John Lee Hooker - Burning Hell are all great. I have just ordered John Lee Hooker - That's My Story, Lightnin' Hopkins - Goin' Away, and Shakey Jake - Mouth Harp Blues for the very reason you point out!

hungrych Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 John Handy - The 2nd John Handy Album I wouldn't be surprised if the Mahavishnu Orchestra were inspired by some of this...
cetoole Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 Nightingale - Nightfall Overture. Just showed up from Sweden, and of course, had to give it a spin.
deepak Posted December 23, 2008 Author Report Posted December 23, 2008 To the guy on the cover: dew eet!

humanflyz Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 Sigur Ros - Med Sud I Eyrum Vid Spilum Endalaust I felt this album was underrated by critics, as I didn't see it on a lot of the year-end lists (speaking of which, anyone wants to start a HC year-end list thread?). Sure, it's not as mind-blowing as the first time I heard Sigur Ros, but even a "standard" Sigur Ros album offers more transcendental moments than most other bands do.
jp11801 Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 I'm spinning Roy Eldridge Rocking Chair and up next is the Trumpet Kings Live on Pablo Records featuring Dizzy, Roy Eldridge and Clark Terry.
