Steve Lacy and Mal Waldron - Hot House

this is probably one of my top 100 favorite albums.

Grabbed this last night and gave it several listens on repeat. Its nice.

There's something attractive about jazz with only 2 instruments. There's a lot of breathing room and space, for one thing.

Overall my favorite jazz albums tend toward this pattern; Duke's Blanton disc, and Monk's San Fran album come to mind. (Ok, one or two instruments, but the same basic idea)

Portugal. The Man - American Ghetto

Co-worker gave me this along with the Ween from above. I never would have picked this up on my own, and other than a couple annoying tracks, I rather like it.

He also gave me

pe-beach_house-devotion.jpg

Beach House - Devotion

I can't even make it through one song. Blech.

Heh, those are probably the two big indie hits of last year.
