deepak Posted December 18, 2009 Author Report Posted December 18, 2009 If nothing else it wins best album art of 2009
mypasswordis Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 1) Piano solos Art Tatum ftw. And while I am usually picky about female voices (any genre), Ella is able to melt my heart to the core more than any other I have so far heard. There is a reason she is royalty.
feckn_eejit Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 The Durutti Column - LC (1981) I have not been able to get enough of this the past few days. Another thanks to 'stretch
n_maher Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 1) Piano solos, 2) Piano trios (the usuals suspects) And just with these two specific preferences I can find around the world more titles than I can afford to buy/listen. Feel free to make some suggestions. Today's love of piano selection: The Dresden Dolls - Yes, Virginia
Salt Peanuts Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 Jack Johnson - In Between Dreams
Salt Peanuts Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 Bud Powell - The Best of Bud Powell - The Blue Note Years
deepak Posted December 18, 2009 Author Report Posted December 18, 2009 Anyone that missed out on the Charlie Brown Fantasy 45, AcousticSounds "mysteriously" (cough) found another pile of them in their warehouse. The Fantasy sounds fantastic, did a short few minute comparison with the OJC CD; no contest!
Dusty Chalk Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 You should have a doctor look at that cough. Oh, wait...
Dusty Chalk Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 I've got something stuck in my head, and I don't know what it is. It's not George Clinton, "Atomic Dog" ("Bow-wow-wow yippee-yo yippee-yay...") and it's not Hooked on a Feeling ("Ooga chaka..."), but it's got a similarly catchy nonsense phrase -- "Boom-chaka-laka-laka boom-chaka-laka-laka boom-chaka-laka-laka boom" -- anyone have any idea what it is? I'm thinking Parliament/Funkadelic, or something like that, but I could be somewhere else entirely.
Dusty Chalk Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 (edited) That sounds more likely than the Phil Joel song (formerly Newsboys, seriously Christian lyrics -- NTTAWT, but that just ain't me). EDIT: Thank you! Yes, that was it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mfxcq77FkdE Edited December 18, 2009 by Dusty Chalk
