Voltron Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 I will see if I can retrieve the message without ruining everything. I have original vinyl of Knife right here, which is what I was going to listen to when I saw the 10". Have you heard the live "Jump" before elsewhere? Good stuff. Aztec Camera - Knife

Voltron Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 Martha and the Muffins -- Danseparc (vinyl)
Voltron Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 Screaming Blue Messiahs -- Gun Shy (vinyl) In 1986, I went on my first semi-date with my wife and her sister to see the Messiahs and the opener was The Celibate Rifles. I think I bought this record at the show. The Unitarian minister who spent 60 minutes learning our life histories in advance of marrying us was fascinated by this tidbit and actually recounted the story during the wedding ceremony. Funny moment.

Dusty Chalk Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 Isn't that the Cranberries chick? How is that?
Dusty Chalk Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 White Willow, Ex Tenebris -- a nice album, does not even hint at where they would go by the time they get to Storm Season, though.
jp11801 Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Black Crowes, Before The Frost ... After The Freeze 2 LP set. Great Stuff
catscratch Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Abakus - That Much Closer to the Sun Fantastic ambient/dub. A lot like Kuba actually but not quite as free-form impressionistic when it comes to melody. Definitely more concrete melody and not just a bunch of motifs strewn about seemingly with random psychedelic abandon like Kuba (which can be great too). But the feel is similar - especially with the offbeat, driving dubby basslines. Great find, this disk is rare as balls.
Dusty Chalk Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Dude, I could listen to stuff like that all day and never get tired of it. Thanks for posting that description.
n_maher Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Anna Ternheim -- Leaving on a Mayday This is a fracken great disc in my book. I've been enjoying the hell out of it since Al posted it a while back. Sort of in the same vein as Bat for Lashes.
MoonShine Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 ^^^ Thanks for that (and Thanks Al). Lovely voice, great stuff! Kinda reminds me of Emiliana Torrini.
grawk Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Amazon.com: Mingus Ah Um: Charles Mingus: Music
Dusty Chalk Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Delia Gonzalez & Gavin Russom, Days of Mars -- time told -- this is by far my most frequently listened to album from 2005, from 2006 to the present. Classic old school arpeggiator-driven trance-y synth stuff. Very Tangerine Dream-y.
Dusty Chalk Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 (edited) An Imeem playlist of Abakus tracks. PS Found this interesting: For those who have images turned off, it says A Fine Frenzy, new album, Bomb ina Birdcage available 9/8...hey wait, that's today! Edited September 8, 2009 by Dusty Chalk
