swt61 Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 Are we talking the same technology used in some Cabasse speakers?
JBLoudG20 Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 Are we talking the same technology used in some Cabasse speakers? Can you show us a picture of the stand you made for Senn?
swt61 Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 (edited) Can you show us a picture of the stand you made for Senn? The pics are on another computer that crashed. I posted them on here somewhere a while back though. Most likely in some place. I'll look. Oops, I made a boo boo. I'll post the pics in a sec. Edited January 8, 2009 by swt61

Smeggy Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 looks a lot better than the glass head. You have a glass head? No wonder the faceplant broke all your teeth out. Next time try to have your head made from Pyrex, much more durable.
swt61 Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 I have not heard a word out of Sennheiser. They did finally confirm receipt of the stand about two months after I shipped it. This was confirmed to my business partner warrior05, only after several emails asking if it arrived. I've had no luck getting any more information whatsoever.
n_maher Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 Well, the HD800 appears to have been powerful enough to knockout Head-Fi for the time being. The site slowed to a crawl last night, was worse this morning and I get nothing but timeouts now.
swt61 Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 I get a 5 minute downtime for maintenance message. Translated that means "Oh Shit, we're screwed"
Chekhonte Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 time for another mass head-case migration.
aardvark baguette Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 time for another mass head-case migraine. FTFY
Smeggy Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 Heh, if nothing else the 800 has certainly generated a lot of traffic. I wonder how the sales will go once it quiets down and most realize they can't afford it anyway. Still, it's a pretty good reaction to something so expensive. Maybe there is hope for the high end market after all.
Chekhonte Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 I'm certainly psyched but I know that I can't afford them. Even if the price drops in half in a few years I won't be able to afford them.
aardvark baguette Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 yeah, practically every comment on Jude's thread was "onoes, its so expensive".
PFKMan23 Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 I just tried. Works for me. Doesn't work anymore!!
n_maher Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 It came back and worked super-fast for me long enough to send a PM and they fizzled again.
powertoold Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 Did Sennheiser claim the HD800 is the best, even better than their HE90?
Smeggy Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 The price is certainly sobering. I'd need a really good long listen before even thinking about committing that amount of cash, especially as I'm getting such awesome results from homebrewing. I guess a lot of it has ultimately to do with musicality. I have a number of phones which may well be technically better with more details and all that balls, but my orthos are just so sweet and musical even a $1400 phone would have trouble toppling them for my prefs. I hope I get a chance to listen to a set one day. I don't generally like current Senns and I hope this is a big enough departure from the 5/6xx series to be of interest.
n_maher Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 I'm honestly betting that the street price (after an initial period of high demand) will probably drop much closer to $1000. But in the beginning, expect to pay pretty close if not MSRP for the privilege of early adoption. I know Headroom has been selling all of their D7000s at near list price because demand is high and they are one of the few with actual headphones to sell.
Duggeh Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 You've got a second K1000 havent you Smeggy? Theres your HD800 right there. I'm sure youll be able to trade it.
