kelvinz Posted June 12, 2009 Report Posted June 12, 2009 (edited) Depends how many cars I had bought in the past. I figure this is your first hi end audio purchase? I have some ML's, D7000s, but not sure if that counts? I own other expensive toys as well. Edited June 12, 2009 by kelvinz meh
Asr Posted June 12, 2009 Report Posted June 12, 2009 Try thinking about it from a different perspective. You buy a new premium top of the line Car/Table/Speakers/etc... touted as having impeccable craftsmanship and being the best in the manufacturers line. You know what, Sony claimed the same thing about the Qualia 010 which sold at $2.6K when it came out. And the Qualia's frame is made of mere easily-breakable plastic and comes with only a one-size headband! I mean what is this tomfoolery?! "No-compromise design" my ass! A flagship headphone should have no design or manufacturing flaws, certainly not one so expensive and one that claims it's state of the art! What is this nonsense? Deal with it.

I don't get it what was wrong with the qualia? The qualia is one of the best built headphones I've ever seen, the carbon fiber headband is beautiful and so is the plastic frame.
Tachikoma Posted June 12, 2009 Report Posted June 12, 2009 The headbands are known to break easily, I think.

The headbands break, and there are 6 people on the planet that can wear the large frame, and 200 or so that can wear the medium.

The headband snaps easily, not sure if it's a materials issue or a design flaw but they are extremely fragile.
kelvinz Posted June 12, 2009 Report Posted June 12, 2009 that's too bad I've always wanted to own a qualia just for the looks I guess I'll scratch that one off my list.

boomana Posted June 13, 2009 Report Posted June 13, 2009 (edited) So I got my replacement pair from HeadRoom last night and have no problem with it whatsoever. Stayed up waaayy too late just listening with a pico and my laptop while in bed. These are definitely keepers. I'm going to try it out in my home rig later on tonight, or if I fall asleep soon (very tempting), tomorrow. Edited June 14, 2009 by boomana
screaming oranges Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 Night time listening is the best. It's too bad I rarely have the opportunity for those sessions.
atothex Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 Impressions of Balanced HD800 - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio That picture made me puke in my mouth a little bit. Finally, something uglier than the Floats...
tyrion Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 man, somebody let converse know that their lace design has been pirated.
deepak Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 The little jewels on the XLR connectors are very -ish
tyrion Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 The little jewels on the XLR connectors are very -ish I didn't notice them when I looked before. $1,400? Is he f'ing nuts.
diebenkorn Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 Yes. I want my cables with those fat laces or gold chains ala Run D.M.C.
deepak Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 SAA knows people will buy them even at $1400.
tyrion Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 I'm a live and let live kind of guy but anyone that buys those cables deserves whatever abuse that comes their way.
nor_spoon Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 I am sure SAA laugh all the way to the bank... Wonder how they will look after a couple of months use...
faust3d Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 I really like this: * makes for an even better flow and naturalness of sound WTF? Flow of what? BS?
Beefy Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 Considering that perfection is an ideal and doesn't exist in real life, you'll always be disappointed. This is especially true in hand made, limited edition items. Like women. If your woman is hand-made, you're probably doing it wrong.
Lil' Knight Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 I haven't tried to open up my HD800's cable but this 'article' makes me sad about my stock cable: Stefan AudioArt Home Those pics are great, too: Stefan AudioArt Home
Hopstretch Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 If your woman is hand-made, you're probably doing it wrong. My wife was a test-tube baby, so yah boo sucks to you. That white Voice is going to get damn dirty damn fast. Voice Noir for the Dusty and non-dusty win.
