Knuckledragger Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 I hope Jude backed things up recently.
guzziguy Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 It's slow now, but still working for me. Maybe it's popping up and down.
Hopstretch Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 How hard are these going to be to drive properly?

aardvark baguette Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 How hard are these going to be to drive properly? My guess is ~ 40 ohms more difficult than the HD650.
pabbi1 Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 Looks like they are having to bounce all the servers... one at a time.

Smeggy Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 You've got a second K1000 havent you Smeggy? Theres your HD800 right there. I'm sure youll be able to trade it. Not any more, I'm down to one set now and the 800 would need to be something really special for me to let these go
Hopstretch Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 My guess is ~ 40 ohms more difficult than the HD650. No speako enginerdo.
Torpedo Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 I'm honestly betting that the street price (after an initial period of high demand) will probably drop much closer to $1000. But in the beginning, expect to pay pretty close if not MSRP for the privilege of early adoption. I know Headroom has been selling all of their D7000s at near list price because demand is high and they are one of the few with actual headphones to sell. It depends on whether they release a 680 -or any other number- using the same driver into a more Sennheiser classic frame, selling at about USD600-800, or not. My take is Sennheiser will try to have a statement product competing with Stax top tier electrostats, GS-1000, and Ultrasone Ed9, then a 2nd tier to fight D7000, DX1000, RS-1, etc which could be a next to release product based on the top of the line technology (like many speaker makers do), and keeping their popular lines, perhaps getting rid of the HD600 or 650 depending on which one is selling worse or generating less profit.
Smeggy Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 Ive been getting these messages on and off since about 11 EST. Yeah, I just tried to reply to an ortho thread and suddenly the page flickered and all my typing was gone DOH!! I'll wait until things calm down over there before attempting again. WOOHOO!!! terminate title FTW! YAY!!
faust3d Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 Not any more, I'm down to one set now and the 800 would need to be something really special for me to let these go What did you trade your second K1000 for?? Or did you just sold it and bought drugs??
Smeggy Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 What did you trade your second K1000 for?? Or did you just sold it and bought drugs?? At first of course I considered drugs, then I stupidly decided to trade for an amp.
Duggeh Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 WOOHOO!!! terminate title FTW! YAY!! Shouldn't that be exterminate? Or perhaps PinkDalekCakeTerminate?
aardvark baguette Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 No speako enginerdo. ~ 15 percent harder.
Smeggy Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 Shouldn't that be exterminate? Or perhaps PinkDalekCakeTerminate? The Cake Daleks will accept this title until we have conquered this world then we will decide titles!
Duggeh Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 When cake conquers the world I'll be very happy. Get on with it! It's a theory of pub philosophy I've postulated several times to great success. "Barring medical grounds dictating non-consumption, there is nobody who does not like cake."

If the driver tech is not too expensive I bet they will reuse it in a different frame made at another Sennheiser facility in Ireland perhaps.
Dusty Chalk Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 I'll wait for the robot-made trickle-down technology, thanks. Make it black this time, bitches. Metal skeleton encased in carbon fiber, perhaps.
Torpedo Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 If the driver tech is not too expensive I bet they will reuse it in a different frame made at another Sennheiser facility in Ireland perhaps. If it sounds really good I'm sure they'll do, otherwise all what I guess they spent in R&D, I don't think is profitable enough if just implemented into 1000 euros cans. This kind of product doesn't reach really major sales figures IMO.
Smeggy Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 I'd assume the HD 700 will be the economy model seeing as how there's a huge price gap in the range now just waiting to be filled. I don't think it'll be released until later to capitalize on the 800.
Dusty Chalk Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 HD 680, since the link to that page reroutes you to the HD 800. That's my theory. And I agree with the staggered release, that just makes marketing/hype sense.
Torpedo Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 Of course, otherwise they not even would sell all the HD800 that have already produced to attend the initial demand.
bhd812 Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 if Senn did what they did with the 600 and the 650 and the he60 and the he90 then i have no doubt the hd800 would be worth the $1400! pound for pound its hard to beat the 600 or the 650 for any company and now this being the flagship of Senn it has to be amazingly more then those two. I am buying a set, without a doubt.
