Chekhonte Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 I want to get a Nikon d90 body and most places offer it at around 900 dollars but there are a couple of places that offer it for about 550. Are those places safe to order from? They don't seem overtly sketchy but I rarely order things outside of amazon. Quote
grawk Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 If it's cheaper than bhphoto.com, it's a scam, pretty much without a doubt on cameras. Quote
Chekhonte Posted December 7, 2008 Author Report Posted December 7, 2008 dang, that's too bad. Then they're out of my price range but I'm glad I didn't get scammed. Quote
n_maher Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 Unless you need video, and why you'd want video in your DSLR body quite frankly escapes me, pick up a D80 which is probably considerably less expensive now. I've seen bodies for ~$500 slightly used. Of course if you really want to take pictures and don't care about the street cred of the body I'd probably go after a D2H. Quote
Beefy Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 In Australia, super-cheap cameras are almost always grey imports out of Hong Kong. They are generally the real deal product, but without local tech support or warranty support. Not sure how it is in the US though. It is the exact same situation down here with cheap headphones. I need at least 10mp camera. I have to take digital slides of some sculpture to apply for grants and some places have a 10mp requirement otherwise I'd look at that d2h. Just to make sure, older nikkor lenses from the 90s for their film SLRs work with the digital cameras right? Quote
grawk Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 photoshop's upsampling will work well enough for anyone's needs when a good image is fed to it. The 10mp requirement is based on crappy digicams and ignorance on the part of the person writing the requirements. Quote
