humanflyz
AudiogoN ForSale: Nottingham Horizon with Benz I've never heard a Nottingham table in my life before, but this deal looks decent. I remember Mike and someone else here had Nottingham tables, but it's a table much higher up in the product line, but does Nottingham have a family sound? postjack
Looking forward to responses on this. I think its the Horizon I've read very bad things about, something about a noisiness that was fixed in the SE version?
luvdunhill
well, to move up the older Space Deck you're looking at $1200 (minimum) without a cartridge. So, the Benz probably has a $200 used market value, so the extra $400 represents a decent percentage increase in price.
jp11801
At this end of the market I would go KAB modded technics 1200, unless you wanted to try a fixer upper linn lp12

aerius
but does Nottingham have a family sound? Yes, but I don't know how far down their product line you can go while still retaining the family sound. I've only sampled their products from the Space 294 and up. tyrion
The Horizon SE is what first introduced me to the Nottingham line. I would say there is a similarity of sound signature in the line, at least with the SE level, which came with a Nottingham arm, not the Rega on the non SE version. I've never heard the non SE version but I suspect it's not too far off. I also haven't heard anything in between the SE and the Hyperspace. I don't know that the deal on this one is so good that you should jump at it. I would perhaps follow Jp's recommendation as an intermediate step to getting a Space Deck.
