The Monkey Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 Is there an easy/possible way to print out a multiple page thread? For instance, if I want to print out the entire Stax thread, I can choose printable view, but it still results in having to print out multiple pages individually. How can I print out the whole thread in one fell swoop?
Dusty Chalk Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 Not that I know of -- the best you can do is click that "show 40 posts" link at the top right. Reduces it down to 76 different print jobs.

Pars Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 Not that I know of -- the best you can do is click that "show 40 posts" link at the top right. Reduces it down to 76 different print jobs. And then print those 76 print jobs as pdfs, then combine them. Voila, single print job...
Dusty Chalk Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 (edited) I think it was the hassle that he wanted to save, not the paper (75 x fraction of a page), although that'd be nice, too. Another solution: hire a lackey. Isn't that what you have kids for? PS I've taken to printing out most of my printouts as double-sided, double-paged, so I get 4 pages for the price of one sheet of paper. You may want to set your printer resolution to a step higher than it is now if you do the same. Edited December 3, 2008 by Dusty Chalk
Salt Peanuts Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 Me stupid. Please ignore me - this is what happens when I don't read everything.
The Monkey Posted December 4, 2008 Author Report Posted December 4, 2008 Everything these days requires a lackey.
deepak Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 Everything these days requires a lackey. Absolutely
Fungi Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 Time to become Code Monkey and write a script or program that combines thread pages into one giant file.
tkam Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 I took a look at the archive functionality thinking maybe there was an option to add a "view as single page" type of thing. But yeah no luck there. I'll keep an eye out for any mods/hacks I'm sure someone else must have thought about this before.
The Monkey Posted January 22, 2009 Author Report Posted January 22, 2009 From the few things I've read, it seems that my suggestion might make a server cranky, so I think there are 2 possible directions: 1) Increase max posts per page for print view if possible; or 2) Find a way to export or dump the contents of threads into a text file, sort of like fungi's idea. Any thoughts?
Duggeh Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 I've seen on other forums a button you can press which says "display all" or similar. On threads much larger than say, 150 posts it has a habit of locking up your browser though.
aardvark baguette Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 I'm just glad this place doesnt look like the harbeth forums.

Dusty Chalk Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 Jacob/Todd/Dan/whomever -- I took care of the banning, but not sure how to IP-ban, so I'll leave that up to you, is that alright?
slwiser Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 I use PDFReDirect on each page. It buffers each page in a list till I get to the last page of a thread then I select all the pages that I have printed to PDFRedirect and print to one file. It is fairly painless and collects the whole thread in one file. You will have to click on each page of a thread anyway so this is not much harder. It saves it for later reading.
The Monkey Posted March 6, 2009 Author Report Posted March 6, 2009 cool. You'd think there would be an easy way to export or dump it into a text file.
Dusty Chalk Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 Uh, I was over at the AVS forum, and under thread tools, they have "save thread to file", which exports it to .txt -- can we get that? Or are they using different software? I just exported 2k+ posts with one click (from the Oppo Blu-Ray thread). Official OPPO BDP-83 Early Adoption Program Owner's Thread - AVS Forum
tkam Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 Found the plugin they are using over at AVS. It's installed here now, haven't had much time to test it with larger threads so let me know if find any problems with it.
