blessingx Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 Anyone have any experience with the Sony XDR-F1HD tuner? Lots of positive reviews: The Audio Critic Sony XDR-F1HD David's DX Website - Sony XDR-F1HD Radio Review ... but wondering if anyone here has one?
grawk Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 HD radio is crap, it's the worst sounding form of radio so far, so I can't imagine there's anything that tuner can do to help it. HD in this case stands for "high density" not "high definition"
blessingx Posted December 1, 2008 Author Report Posted December 1, 2008 Grawk, I see the bitrates listed in the first review (thought not sure the technology). Could it be even worse than sat radio? Still I wonder how the radio performs for analog FM. I just unsubscribed from Sirius (held on to it this long mostly for Stern) and although internet radio & podcasts (with their own bitrate issues) will likely fill most of the void, I thought of going back to FM if indeed a good tuner could get more stations.

HD Radio suffers from dropouts, interference, poor coverage, and bland HD channel programming. HD Radio is nothing but a scam! [url=http://hdradiofarce.blogspot.com]Is HD Radio
blessingx Posted December 2, 2008 Author Report Posted December 2, 2008 Okay, I assume no one has one. Even ignoring the HD aspect, the analog FM seems to measure well from the second review.
