MoonShine Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 From George's website: Meanwhile... there is news. Big news. The end is in sight, at long long last, and we're close enough so that my editors and publishers at Bantam Spectra have set an actual publication date. A DANCE WITH DRAGONS will be in your favorite bookstore on TUESDAY, JULY 12, 2011 Quote
Voltron Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Well, what did those that were waiting for this for so long think about the first ep? As an uninitiated viewer, I thought it was alright but this was more about introducing characters than anything. Fair amount of sex, but I was expecting more violence to go with it. Quote
Salt Peanuts Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Frick. I forgot this started already. I must go watch the 1st episode now. Don't worry, Al, violence *should* be coming. Quote
n_maher Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 I'll be watching it in the next few days. Quote
penger Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 I needed the internets to keep up with all the different groups. Quote
tyrion Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 As Haj said, like winter, violence is coming. I've read the books and loved the first episode. I watched it again today. I love violence as much as the next guy but this story is more than just violence. Quote
elnero Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Going to watch it tonight, can't wait! Quote
Salt Peanuts Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 (edited) I actually need to get off my lazy butt and finish up the first book - I'm almost done. I need to allot more reading time into my day. Edited April 18, 2011 by Salt Peanuts Quote
riffer Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 I'm not a big fantasy fan and haven't read the books, but I quite enjoyed the first episode. Totally forgot about it as well; but fortunately I had the DVD set to tape and it switched automatically. Quote
Pars Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 I enjoyed it and will be watching it. I read yesterday that it has already been renewed for a second season. Quote
Voltron Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 i found this to be funny: which had more nudify, GoT or Tru Blood? See! Tons of sex in GoT! Quote
tim22 Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 Cool, the preview looks amazing, Sean Bean is really impressive. Hope it comes to Australia... Quote
n_maher Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 Watched it, really liked it, will be looking forward to more. I can't decide if I want to start the books now too... Quote
tyrion Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 Read the books, they are great. As good as the first episode was, the book is better. If you need a copy, I think I have the first couple in paperback. I can send them to you. Let me know. Quote
elnero Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 I agree with Tyrion, as good as the first episode was the books are that much better, well worth the read. Quote
ironbut Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 Killer first episode! I can't get the way they did the credits at the beginning out of my head. Those maps with the towns that "geared up" was inspired IMHO! Quote
n_maher Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 Ok, ok, fine I'll read the books. I wish they were available as audiobooks but so far I can't find the beginning of the series on audible or anywhere else? Am I missing something? Quote
tyrion Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 Jp is listening to the first one, unabridged. Not sure where he got it. Quote
MoonShine Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 Ok, ok, fine I'll read the books. I wish they were available as audiobooks but so far I can't find the beginning of the series on audible or anywhere else? Am I missing something? Audible Err, other source... Quote
n_maher Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 Audible Err, other source... I have audible and have downloaded the first book. Quote
