luvdunhill Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 So, I have never really found a good quick connect that I like... I used to buy some insulated parts and stick them on the end of an old power inlet that uses quick connects and try and pull the plastic part away quick enough to separate the metal from the plastic, then feed the wire through and solder then reattach the plastic and heat shrink the thing... that's not working with the last few ones I've tried. So, any recommendations? I'd really prefer solder types to crimp and they must be insulated. Thanks guys!
n_maher Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 Size/Number of wire needed to accommodate? Voltage/Current rating? Maybe I'm not picturing what it is that you're trying to do?
Pars Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 So you're looking for quick connect terminals (crimp type) that you can pull the plastic off, solder, then replace the plastic, plus heatshrink them? Interesting, but I guess from using these and crimping them I can perhaps understand why you are going to the trouble. What brands have you tried and not liked? I'll take a look at the variety I have and see if any of them seem to allow this. You couldn't just use a non-insulated terminal, solder it, then heatshrink it?
