blessingx Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 We know both political parties have support among artists, but do these Hank Williams Jr. lyrics even make sense (logically or structurally)? Does Hank consider McCain a "good-looking dish"? Did "ol' Hank" (assuming this is Jr., though he may be digging up dad) fix anything I should be aware of? Video The left wing liberal media have always been a real close knit family But most of the American people dont believe em anyway you see Stop and think it over Before you make your decision If they smell something wrong, they're gonna come down strong You know McCain-Palin tradition John and Sarah tell you just what they think. They're not gonna blink. And they don't have radical friends to whom their careers are linked John is his own man And Sarah fixed Alaska's broken condition They're gonna be just fine Were headed for good times You know McCain-Palin Tradition This old unions got problems That is plain to see The democrats bankrupted Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Like 1-2-3 The bankers didn't want to make all those bad loans Bill Clinton said "you got to!" Now they wanna bail out what I'm talking about Is a democrat liberal hoodoo! To me and you John and Sarah tell you just what they think And they're not gonna blink They're gonna fix this country, cuz they're just like you and ol Hank I am very proud Of our country's name But no society is perfect And we have had our stains If I'm down at the coffee shop Somebody wants to start do give our flag friction I say please move on, were standing strong Thats an Old John McCain tradition John and Sarah tell you just what they think And they're not gonna blink They're gonna fix this country, cuz they're just like you and ol Hank If I'm down at the coffee shop Somebody wants to start do give our flag friction I say please move on, were standing strong Thats an Old Sarah Palin tradition Some are bound to tell you I'm preaching to the choir And that is very true, and we are going even higher Like a Mama bear in Idaho She'll protect your family's condition If you mess with her cubs, shes gonna take off the gloves, thats an American female tradition Ehi tell me Sarah why do you hunt John why do you fish How can you be so smart and savvy such a hey good-looking dish Yes John is his own man And Sarah fixed Alaska's broken condition Were gonna see the light, they're gonna get it right, its a McCain-Palin tradition
grawk Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 Perhaps you should try at freerepublic or huffingtonpost, whichever is more suited to the answer you're looking for?
Voltron Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 grawk says move on, we're standing strong . . . It doesn't seem that you like political discussion here Dan. Maybe there should be a rule like HF if you are going to squelch humorous remarks that are even music-related. The lryics are a bunch of gobbledygook, but my favorite part is that he sings about a "Sarah Palin tradition" when nobody heard of her 6 weeks ago. No wait, the best part is when it seems that he calls John McCain a "hey-goodlookin dish."
Voltron Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 Wtf is wrong with blinking? Because if you blink you might miss it when Putin rears his head over Alaska. Duh.
aardvark baguette Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 Since music lyrics are open to anyone's interpretation, I'd imagine 'McCain-Palin tradition' to mean something about conservative tradition, as opposed to the history of the partnership. No other take on it makes a lick of sense to me.
blessingx Posted October 14, 2008 Author Report Posted October 14, 2008 What's a hoodoo? Google returns: Hoodoos are tall, isolated rock formations that are common in dry regions of sedimentary rock.

Proving to me that that TV is good for advertising foods and for broadcasting travel series
Voltron Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 Holy crap that video is weird. Does Hank Jr. use some kind of monkey sign language or something? He keeps pointing at his head or eyes or whatever, and even makes a blinky hand gesture for that fine line of poetry. Anyway, watching the video makes this even more disturbing.
Grahame Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 being british 'McCain-Palin` got me thinking how Michael Palin considers McCain oven chips. Proving to me that that TV is good for advertising foods and for broadcasting travel series Oh dear. McCain oven chips. You had to remind me, didn't you. Now I have to show everyone else. Never mind the micro chips This is what they are up to now. McCain - It's all good With the advent of Sarah Palin, John Cleese no longer considers Michael Palin the funniest Palin.
NightWoundsTime Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 I'm surprised Rush Limbaugh isn't playing this 24/7. It's pretty much what he's saying all day every day lately. Yes, I listen to Rush, so sue me. I also listen to Fresh Air every day. I also don't have the slightest clue who I'm voting for. I think listening to the radicals on both sides is going to cause an aneurism eventually.
