Hopstretch Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 Further rye -- if you can find some Sazerac 18 it will give the Black Maple Hill a run for its money at half the price, in my inexpert opinion.
Voltron Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 Sazerac is great, and the best I had before BMH 23, but I had them at the same time and the BMH was definitely my preference. Maybe Tampa needs to have a little bourbon tasting table. The impressions will be way more interesting than lousy old gear.

guzziguy Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 Where's that? Is it a chain store or online? 4935 Mcconnell Ave # 21, Los Angeles, CA 90066 (Beverage Warehouse)
Voltron Posted October 12, 2008 Report Posted October 12, 2008 Sipping a little Bookers right now. As you can see, the bottle is 126.7 proof and damn is it tasty. JP#s donated this bottle to MOA and I only recently cracked it. Thanks JP!

morphsci Posted October 13, 2008 Author Report Posted October 13, 2008 Well I went with this, today Actually the cheapest of the three in my final consideration. Must have been the flashbacks (tastebacks?) to August I would have bought the BMH Rye but alas they did not have it.
MexicanDragon Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 Figured I'd steal a pic from the same guy... Bulleit Out of the 5 bourbons I have right now (Weller Antique 107, Wild Turkey 101, Four Roses, Woodford Reserve, and Bulleit), this is my favorite pour. I think its a relative bargain at around 23-24$. **BRENT**
JBLoudG20 Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 i like Bulleit, too. has a nice bite and good flavor. That's what she said???
Old Pa Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 Although not traditional, Maker's Mark goes down smooth neat. Usually in my tank bag for longer motorcycle expeditions.
Old Pa Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 So you drink when riding? Nope, at the end of the trail. Leave the drinking while riding to Tyll.
Tyll Hertsens Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 Nope, at the end of the trail. Leave the drinking while riding to Tyll. Okie dokie.
guzziguy Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 I bought a 1/2 pint bottle of Jim Beam bourbon for the dual sport trip. It tasted excellent at the end of a cold day of riding and then camping.
Voltron Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 That is a LOT of shitty liquor I made effectively the same comment when he posted that pic in his birthday thread.

grawk Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 I made effectively the same comment when he posted that pic in his birthday thread. Yup, someone needs to say it each time it shows up
Voltron Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 Agreed, life is too short for bad booze. Speaking of which, you know they make good booze in small bottles, right Ken? Alternatively, a nice little flask of some good whiskey will feel a whole lot better than JB on a cold dual sport bike trip.
JBLoudG20 Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 nobody has ever accused me of not being a whisk(e)y snob, but i think that no whisk(e)y can be truly bad, for even the worst whisk(e)y is better than no whisk(e)y. You are such a fucking whisk(e)y snob.
