aardvark baguette Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 I was browsing last night. Most of the high-rez store is jazz based There was a Clark Terry album, some flamenco stuff, modern jazz and 2 KINKS records. Since I'm USB-based, I havent jumped at it yet myself.
zippy2001 Posted October 3, 2008 Author Report Posted October 3, 2008 I purchased Rebecca Pidgeon "The Raven" and Marta Gomez "Cantos De Agua Dulce". They sound great through my pico. These Chesky recordings are excellent, clear and dynamic.
grawk Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 Chesky always makes great recordings. They don't always record great music
zippy2001 Posted October 3, 2008 Author Report Posted October 3, 2008 Chesky always makes great recordings. They don't always record great music That certainly is true, if we can combine great talent with great recordings then we may be able to sell some records.
deepak Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 This was posted at Headfi- HDTracks is offering a Gibson guitar sampler CD for free. It's 14 tracks and pretty good quality. It's on their main page.
blessingx Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 Don't miss the other hi-rez music sites a few threads down.
Augsburger Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 I have bought a few cds worth of tracks from them and the quality is pretty good. I have also downloaded Music Giants and Linn selections which have a lot more jazz and music not readily available around here.
vvs_75 Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 Oh. Fuck. Yeah. Hey Dusty, Did you actualy buy it? I have same red book cd and the recording quality very good without hi rez.
Dusty Chalk Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 I've had this discussion before, although not with you -- well-recorded metal, hard rock, etc. -- what I call 'busy music', mostly because of the distorted guitars -- benefits the most from high res. Also, large scale orchestral works. No, I haven't gotten around to purchasing it yet. Also: Jeff Lynne productions & the like. Also: the last two tracks have some of my favorite guitar tones, evar. Also, the triangle at the beginning of YYZ. Also, the breaking glass. Also, the guitars that were recorded in the middle of a lake for Red Barchetta. Sent from mah Droid
vvs_75 Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 (edited) Found The Who "Tommy", $23 for 24 tracks not bad at all. Anybody brave who want to split it with me? d-_-b https://www.hdtracks.com/index.php?file=catalogdetail&valbum_code=HD00008811141721 Have a look at this: https://www.hdtracks.com/index.php?file=catalogdetail&valbum_code=HD666666666666 Edited May 20, 2011 by vvs_75
Dusty Chalk Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 ...album_code=HD666666666666Nice. I wonder if that was intentional.
Dusty Chalk Posted May 30, 2011 Report Posted May 30, 2011 Jacob -- what's the verdict on Keisuke Wakao? Thinking of getting this. ...in addition to Rush's Moving Pictures (yes, really this time).
