Voltron Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 That sucks ass Jack. You have bent over backwards for them and they have just bent you back and had their way with you. Douchebags.
postjack Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 yeah live and learn is all. not the worst transaction i've had on the internet, but their ineptitude is pretty mind boggling.
deepak Posted March 12, 2009 Author Report Posted March 12, 2009 Do it. This is now my second favorite Sunn recording (first place is Black One).
manaox2 Posted March 12, 2009 Report Posted March 12, 2009 Nothing against vinyl, I wish it were available for purchase in digital. First major regret I have had of not having a vinyl rig. It was a choice between either vinyl or a STAX rig. I choose STAX due to not having to rebuy music. :FAIL: (well, partially at least)
GlendaleViper Posted March 12, 2009 Report Posted March 12, 2009 Don't feel bad, now just treat your Stax to a vinyl rig and then pair it all up with a nice pair of mid-fields since *GASP!* vinyl is just better through loudspeakers.

Referring to speakers not being as sensitive with a higher noise floor? Or is there another reason IYO? (man, I am getting off topic here).
GlendaleViper Posted March 12, 2009 Report Posted March 12, 2009 Or is there another reason IYO? (man, I am getting off topic here). I'll keep it going OT for now - IMO, the real strength of vinyl isn't in the details, it's in the live-sounding presentation. Records have an amazing ability to portray soundstage and speakers quite simply do a better job of playing to that.
deepak Posted March 12, 2009 Author Report Posted March 12, 2009 Not arguing the merits of vinyl here, but Sunn is infinitely better on speakers than headphones. Then again 99% of music is
manaox2 Posted March 12, 2009 Report Posted March 12, 2009 Got it. Better speakers have been on my list too, but so has getting a good permanent room to sit them up in that I'll be in for more then a year and has been since I left for college six years ago. And, yes, I graduated.
postjack Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 totally get this, its a gnarly record, and the packaging is just awesome. my threat about not supporting southern lord artists is of course bullshit, i'm just not going to buy from SL direct anymore. i'll be re-purchasing this from an ebay seller sometime soon.
mirumu Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 If the vinyl really is a problem you could always get it and then get someone to try and get a quality digital rip of it. Easier said than done of course, but preferable to missing out on the album entirely I'd say. I did it with mine and it turned out reasonably well, although my turntable leaves a bit to be desired.

GlendaleViper Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 part of the reason I've started attributing this fact to is the relatively poor channel separation that vinyl rigs have... it's like built in crossfeed I couldn't confirm or deny that - my vinyl setup isn't good enough to make headphone listening tolerable, let alone enjoyable.
deepak Posted February 8, 2010 Author Report Posted February 8, 2010 I just finished a late night spin after not hearing this in a very long time. I still think this is some of the best music Sunn have ever released. It's now available at AcousticSounds- whose customer service is much better than Southern Lord's. Drone/organ fans must get this.
