grawk Posted September 23, 2008 Report Posted September 23, 2008 So hockey is starting back. Training camp has begun. I'm heading to the preseason opener for the capitals down in raleigh on weds. It's a sickness. I'm really looking forward to the caps opener in Atlanta. I wish I could go down for that one as well, and tip a few back with Mr Hankins. I even watched the rookie game between the caps and the flyers... Quote

rednamalas1 Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 Sharks look real good this season. But! I'll hold my judgement until playoffs. What is Rob Blake on?!?! He's doing something right! Quote

rednamalas1 Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 I thought he was running on fumes last season. What a change though! Quote
aardvark baguette Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 I've had fun watching the Capitals this season, especially with the suck-ass Redskins being so sucky lately. Quote
grawk Posted December 16, 2008 Author Report Posted December 16, 2008 It has been a good year to be a caps fan. Every game is something new. It's like the "who did we lose today" lottery each week. When the team is healthy they're awesome, and they still manage to win most days when they're not. Quote
aardvark baguette Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 Thank god for Hershey I'm glad Semin's back. Whats been interesting for me is the way we've been alternating goalies. Its a radical change from what I'm used to seeing when we had Kolzig. Quote
rednamalas1 Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 I still have no idea why Caps got rid of Huet? He was awesome last season. He simply didn't want to stay? Quote
GPH Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 He's not a very regular goalie and he's overpaid considering his stats. I liked him he was in Montreal, but I think the Blackhawks got ripped off for signing him at more than 5M$ a year. Quote

Good to see Johnson is doing well though. He was totally overlooked in last few seasons, too. speaking of hockey, I got free tickets for canucks game Wednesday night, so I'm pretty excited Quote
elnero Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 I'm still in a bit of shock over the Toronto vs. Pittsburgh game last night. I'm a Toronto fan but fully expected them to get trounced last night, who would have thought it would be the reverse. Quote
grawk Posted February 27, 2009 Author Report Posted February 27, 2009 Caps just squeaked one out against Tom's Thrashers. Quote
aardvark baguette Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 I fell asleep in the 3rd period god i always do this... Quote
Dreadhead Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 Going to a Caps game on Thursday. Looking forward to it Quote
GPH Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 There's been more talk about hockey than everything else in the newspapers here in the last few weeks. K brothers friendship with a drug trafficker, rumors that Price-Higgins-Kostsytin are always partying, Kovalev not playing for two games, Laracque badmouthing the coach, Schneider return in Montreal, Begin traded, etc. etc. Hockey is a big drama in Montreal. Anyway, can't wait for good playoff games, if we are able to make it that is. Caps vs Habs would make a great first round, two very fast teams. Quote
grawk Posted February 27, 2009 Author Report Posted February 27, 2009 I'd rather it be the caps/habs for the conference finals. Quote
GPH Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 Agreed, but we'd have to win more than two games in a row for the rest of the season for that to happen. Quote
grawk Posted February 27, 2009 Author Report Posted February 27, 2009 Well, yah, that was a self serving hope. If we meet you in the conference finals, then we get to play for the cup Quote
GPH Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 When was the last time that the Caps win the Stanley Cup? Oh wait, never. Quote
grawk Posted February 27, 2009 Author Report Posted February 27, 2009 I agree. Luckily that doesn't mean anything about this year I can see why you frogs have to go back to the history argument tho. Without history, you've got days of our lives, and nothing to show for it. Quote
GPH Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 Yup, just plain old rivalry. I have to admit it could be a good year for the Caps, Ovechkin is on fire and the whole team is pretty solid. Quote
grawk Posted February 27, 2009 Author Report Posted February 27, 2009 This year's caps are amazing against good teams. The problem is they don't do so well against weak to ok teams. When they show up, it's awe inspiring. When they don't, or when they feel like they're safe, it's awful. So many stupid penalties in the philly game the other day. I hope they get a grip on that before the playoffs, or they won't be going very far. Quote
