argentum Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 It is on air again tonight . One of my favorites along with Breaking Bad and Dexter.
ronnielee54 Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 Never thought I would buy this on bluray, but I got hooked last season and couldn't fucking say no. I have got to get more willpower when it comes to blurays.
jimmyjames8 Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 Season 2 Episode 1 was quite a shock to me because somehow I had missed the last episode of Season 1. Had to watch it on line from some crappy website that has little pop ups at the bottom of the screen advertising crap. No way my cheap ass was going to pony up for the BD box of Season 1. Cool shows to get me thru the hot summer: True Blood, Nurse Jackie, Weeds and hopefully Californication but I think it's stalled till fall.
jimmyjames8 Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 Season 2, Episode 2...now it's getting interesting. Glad I have not read the books. Pure genius on someones part, buying the rights to the books and producing this series. I had never heard of the books before the show started. Based on the number of titles, this could be a long running series.
TheCool Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 I'm desperate to find out what Maryanne is. The first season started off a little slow, but it's picked up nicely.
Chekhonte Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 I thought I was going to have to make this thread and humilate myself for admitting that I love this show.
Mister X Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 I'm desperate to find out what Maryanne is. She is a Maenad.
Fing Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 I'd love to get into the psychoanalytics of why and how the maenad's developed as a myth. Quick answer - fear of unrestrained female destructiveness and lust.
feckn_eejit Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 I don't watch television and don't have cable but I have had a strange thing for Anna Paquin since the first X-Men movie... and uh, yeah. Where's that drool smiley?
laxx Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 Man I've been lagging. Got 2 episodes to catch up on, will be 3 after tomorrows episode. Been busy watching Friday Night Lights...
Edwood Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 I'm not exactly sure if I like this show yet or not. I just keep watching it. Even though it seems it has no solid direction, like they're just making it up as they go.
manaox2 Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 [whinnyrant] I had kept up with it this season and am leaning towards dislike, with the soap opera like plot, acting, and needless longwindedness of anything sexual that occurs. The vampires themselves are not bad-ass enough to me either, more like whiny little things that meddle around and sometimes remind me of a male character on gossip girls (yeah, I have seen that show). Needless gore that isn't for comic effect also isn't my thing. [/overlysensitiveprojectiledysentary]
Chekhonte Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 It's best if you don't take this show seriously. Of my friends that like this show like it because it's so insanely bad. It's like watching a train wreck of decision making with and ludicrous newagey bullshit. It often time surprises us with how funny it can be at poking fun at itself which is it's redeeming feature. Spoilers: highlight here godrik dying for vampire's sin for god's sake?!?!
guzziguy Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 So is it basically an updated version of Dark Shadows?
Chekhonte Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 I don't know, I haven't seen dark shadows. is it also retardedly ridiculous?
Chekhonte Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 I really liked six feet under particularly seasons 3 and 4.
guzziguy Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 I don't know, I haven't seen dark shadows. is it also retardedly ridiculous? Read about it here. It was pretty outlandish, but gave an interesting new twist on soaps. It sounds like True Blood is trying the same twist. The problem is that it's no longer new.
Sherwood Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 I don't find it retardedly ridiculous at all. I was disappointed with how quickly they dispensed with Godric, but characters like Lafayette make it for me.
Chekhonte Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 Now that you mention it, I can see parallels in the humor of both series'. I also see a little bit of buffy's humor as well. The yatzee scene seemed like it could have come straight out of buffy.
grawk Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 I think it's a good show with the right blends of character, story, quirky details, but with a little bit of silliness so it doesn't get too dark and brooding.
