deepak Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 Less than a week away for Season five of The Office Here is a preview description of the first episode from TV.com Weight Loss The summer activities of the Dunder Mifflin staff are highlighted, including an interbranch weight loss competition and following Pam at the Pratt Art School. My opinion based on that spoiler It sounds like Pam isn't going to be working in the the office anymore Not sure how I feel about that and Toby's replacement doesn't seem that interesting to me.
iceman94 Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 I'm convinced Toby's replacement is pure evil. There's something off with her. Pam gone is probably going to be temporary, like Jim in Season 3. Didn't they say in the Season 4 finale it was only like a three month program, or something? Still not used to all the changes from Season 4, hopefully Season 5 will go better...
en480c4 Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 Sooooooooooooo can't wait for this to start
jinp6301 Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 so pam is gonna be in nyc, and I think Jim is most likely gonna take over ryan's job in corporate so they can stay together
en480c4 Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 (edited) It's funny this thread popped up today because I just watched "Goodbye Toby" Friday night to get ready for the premiere! Edited September 21, 2008 by EdipisReks to make the sentence make sense
jinp6301 Posted September 26, 2008 Report Posted September 26, 2008 Man, that was a good episode but I want more Pam!!!
deepak Posted September 26, 2008 Author Report Posted September 26, 2008 Do you still want to use spoilers from here on? I just used them in case people didn't want to read the pre-air information...
jinp6301 Posted September 26, 2008 Report Posted September 26, 2008 I just dont want dusty to kill me
ojnihs Posted September 27, 2008 Report Posted September 27, 2008 loved the episode, good start to the new season. iceman, nice to see another wildcat on these forums
deepak Posted November 8, 2008 Author Report Posted November 8, 2008 Last night's episode was definitely my favorite one this season. It's a nice break when they aren't letting plot line elements take too much of the spot light.
postjack Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 I think Michael Scott is one of the great characters in American post-modern art. His intense loneliness and desire for affection coupled with his awful social skills is so tragic, but so unbelievably hilarious. That scene with just him and Kelly in the office was great. Best scene of the season so far was Dwight and Michael and Jim simulating the customer call. Hell its one of the best scenes of the whole series.
deepak Posted November 8, 2008 Author Report Posted November 8, 2008 I was going to say the part where Michael tells Kelly how hard it is for people to come to his house was really tragic. I actually felt a pang of real sadness.
deepak Posted November 8, 2008 Author Report Posted November 8, 2008 guacamole! I don't even know why I make so much
deepak Posted November 8, 2008 Author Report Posted November 8, 2008 Pam is going to fall for New York Tuna, dun dun dun
JBLoudG20 Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 I guess I'm the only one who's really starting to get bored? Man this was one of my favorite series, but this season is just killing it. Too much story, not enough crazy.
guzziguy Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 I could never get into the US version. The original UK version is so much funnier.
deepak Posted November 8, 2008 Author Report Posted November 8, 2008 I watched all of the UK and definitely prefer the US.

I actually felt a pang of real sadness. There have been a few moments when I felt a pang of sympathy for Michael this season. I attribute it not only to good writing but also to Carrell's acting ability. The ending of the previous week's episode is a good example. I love Beadie so much. Can't seem to ever remember her Office name, just know her as Beadie from The Wire. "So, are we gunna have sex tonight" "Hell yeah!" one of the best scenes in the universe, ever. "but it's a million dollar sale!" Don't ever yell at the customer!! he dat man from Mad Men. That a good show? I've heard things. Pam is going to fall for New York Tuna, dun dun dun

hungrych Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 I think one of the reasons Michael is so great is that the writers can use him as an outlet for anything they think of that's too stupid to say on tv otherwise.
deepak Posted February 9, 2009 Author Report Posted February 9, 2009 (edited) What are people's thoughts on the second part of this season? IMO each episode has been wildly varying trying to be funny to just obscure. And I still believe that the best episodes are when they aren't trying to work in plot lines and instead just make an episode about nothing (like Seinfeld). Highlight of this season for me is when Michael is trying to resuscitate Stanley and he says "Stanley you will not die! Barack is president! You are black!" Edited February 9, 2009 by deepak
hungrych Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 I think the plot has entirely stopped making sense because they resolved it a season ago...
