peeradonn Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 Dayuum... $3400? When I went to bed it was $1525... Oh, well, congratz to teh winner. I bid 3,350$ at the near-end time and he wins!!!!!! >>
CD44hi Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 I bid 3,350$ at the near-end time and he wins!!!!!! >> You should consider yourself lucky:p That is an exorbitant amount of cash for a pair of PS1. They are good headphones, but at that price, hum...
wrecked_porsche Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 @CD44hi, yeah, $3500 is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much! Its madness! Might as well get an L3000 + amp for that price eh? @peeradonn, did you manage to buy the L3000? If I was not mistaken, you were looking for an L3000 over at the other site?
NotoriousBIG_PJ Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 I see. Funnily enough I didn't perceive the DB like funny at all. The DX-1000 are way funnier for instance. I had the same evolution as you about Grado. I never listened to any current production model that interested me in the least (I have to listen the GS-1000 yet), but once I knew PS-1 and HP2 I had to change my mind. It's quite surprising PS-1 are John's design. Maybe his oncle helped? Take the left over free systems aluminum cups, screw in some tweaked gs1k drivers, and you have the ps-1. Biggie.

Yep, You're right, Now my choice is L3K or STAX SR-Omega, I still looking for it. But PS1 is just a chance coming So I tried and it already passed.
zippy2001 Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 $3,401 is a lot of money for a pair of headphones, but at least the shipping was only $15
aardvark baguette Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 No way I'm ever giving that much to someone from ebay. For anything.
postjack Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 $1500 RS-1s,and now $3400 PS-1s? Its no wonder the OII has had a recent surge in popularity.
wrecked_porsche Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 at least the shipping was only $15 That's a real bargain! It normally costs about $35. No way I'm ever giving that much to someone from ebay. For anything. But.. but... Paypal has awesome buyer protection! There is nothing to fear! But seriously, that is the same guy who sold the other PS1s too right? Should be relatively safe no? Speaking of O2, I wonder if the Mk1 prices are going to shoot up too?
grawk Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 Well, the someone on ebay is John Grado, that's fairly well established.
GPH Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 Speaking of O2, I wonder if the Mk1 prices are going to shoot up too? It's been a while since one sold on H-F in the For Sale forums. It only takes one person to sell at a higher price that will become a reference point. It won't be me though, I like them too much.
wrecked_porsche Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 If its John, then it should be 100% safe. I've always found it weird that he refers to himself in the third person though. o_0 New PS1 from the private collection of John Grado.
Knuckledragger Posted September 20, 2008 Author Report Posted September 20, 2008 technite71 is indeed the official Grado Labs eBay account, much as bd-usa is Beyerdynamic and koss4129 is (duh) Koss. I don't think John Grado actually manageds the account, which might explain the references to him in the third person. I hope that $15 included insurance.
spritzer Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 Speaking of O2, I wonder if the Mk1 prices are going to shoot up too? It's already begun in Japan but Stax made a lot of them in those 9 years so they will never be rare.
deepak Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 It's already begun in Japan but Stax made a lot of them in those 9 years so they will never be rare. There were 12000 K1000s made yet leave it to Headfi'ers to drive up the price on such a common headphone That sucks that the price in Japan went up on the SR-007 MK1, a backup would have been sweet.
spritzer Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 Sad but true. There are at least 2000 HE60's out there but the price rose from 700$ to about 2k$ in a few months.
Akabeth Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 First of all, congratulations to the new owner And I'm glad I did not bid for the PS-1... because I've gotten my hands into 'something' else
wrecked_porsche Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 @Akabeth What is this 'something else' that you speak off? @spritzer Oh noes, the mk1 price has begun to rise already? What's the average going price for a used mk1 right now?
spritzer Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 Oh noes, the mk1 price has begun to rise already? What's the average going price for a used mk1 right now? They are running close to 120Kyen in Japan now which is quite a jump from the average 85k-95kYen a few months ago. The US price is around 1500$ and slightly more for a set in very good condition or a BL for those that want that.
deepak Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 Afrikane's SR-007 MK1 was the last cheap one I saw, and that sold in something like five minutes \ I've always had good luck with want to buy ads (knocks on wood), much easier than checking the forums non-stop.
wrecked_porsche Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 If you don't mind me asking, how much did his set go for?
postjack Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 randerson sold his MK1 last week I think for $1450. decent price for a pair, I paid $1350 for mine, sold it for the same.
deepak Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 If you don't mind me asking, how much did his set go for? Never mind I just searched, it wasn't an MK1.
Dreadhead Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 @Akabeth What is this 'something else' that you speak off? @spritzer Oh noes, the mk1 price has begun to rise already? What's the average going price for a used mk1 right now? My guess (from the other site): IC: L3000 (images added) - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio
