JBLoudG20
Good good... I need things like this to keep us away. That and gas prices are higher there. Taco Bell is also important... I am currently 30min from the closest Taco Bell would like that to be 5-10min Southern Part of the state. taco Bell's all over the place, since there is a large immigrant population. New Haven decided to give out ID's to the illegals, so they love it. Dan, farmington is also pretty darn close to the goat-loving rednecks, so I can see why you loved it. Farmington is a pretty nice compromise, though. As long as your commute won't take you through hartford.
Grand Enigma
If we do move to the CT area it would likely be with me taking a job in the father in laws business up in Enfiled... I believe that is by the Mass border.

Grand Enigma
Working for the F-I-L sounds dangerous. We actually all get along very well... though we would be moving away from my family to her family where she is an only child and I am one of 4... so all the focus would be on us and I would not be escaping family 24/7 tech support. Ugh UK. I wouldn't live there again...ever. Unless you slum it, the cost of living everywhere is sky high and taxes are ridiculous for the shit health care they shovel your way in return. I don't think it would be a huge amount you'd be bringing back after all that. Unless you got a job for a year that allowed you to work tax free for six or eight months. The only ones I know of are healthcare jobs that do this after you finish post grad.
guzziguy
If I had to settle anywhere it would be suburbs of Dallas or Orange County (CA). My problem wouldn't be the mass folk, instead the traffic on 93/495 that would make me want to kill myself. And for NH I think Salem is much nicer than Nashua. Then you're really on the border If you don't like traffic, stay away from Dallas and its burbs and OC. Either would be like living in hell for me and my wife. Western MA is very nice, and completely unlike the eastern part of the state. This side of the Quabbin is really more like an extension of southern Vermont. It's also not that far from CT. As a bonus, we can pronounce that letter that falls between Q and S. C'mon. They pronounce Rs in the Eastern part of the state. They just have a sophisticated algorithm in which they remove all Rs from the middle of a word, and in words ending with A, remove the A and add ER to the end of the word. I just ate some cold pizzer.

Salt Peanuts
The bad part is that your close to Mass so you have to deal with mass-folk (sorry salty). No prob, I mean, there is some truth to the lovely nickname (Mass-holes), even for a transplant like me. As for where you should go, no idea. We looked at southern NH when we were looking for house and there were some real nice parts.

You're going to get creamed over there, their economy is headed straight down the shitter, they're actually in for the worst hardship of all the first world countries. Their government policies are literally going to leave the country broke, and they'll likely see a rerun of the post WWII recession and asset liquidation. They're no longer an oil exporter, and with that revenue stream gone they're in deep trouble. The Pound is falling fast against the USD, the fall will continue and may even accelerate. GPH
If you like challenge, take a couple of French classes and move to Quebec. Summers are very hot, winters are very cold. Pretty good health care system, good job opportunities, lots of outdoor activities. Learning some French is necessary, but you can do pretty much everything in English in Montreal. Also, I don't know how to describe it, but the people here are different than the rest of Canada and North America. More European in a way... The only good thing is they actually have some savings over there as opposed to the negative savings rate in the US. On the downside their manufacturing base has been offshored to an even greater extent than the US. The Pound isn't tanking against the USD for no reason. JBLoudG20
Look up the topping spread to cheese ratio of the NY style some day, it's even worse than that of Chicago. The only good thing is they actually have some crust over there as opposed to the flatter, tastier style in NYC. On the downside their cooking base has been replaced by immigrants to an even greater extent than Chi. The taste isn't tanking against the gyro for no reason. Post into the WAYE thread and enjoy.
