en480c4 Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 Watched the premiere last night. It kicked all sorts of ass, and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing where it goes. Oh, and yeah, I Anna Torv. That is all.
grawk Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 I hated the way they did the titles. I thought the lost music was too losty, and they should have come up with something different. All in all, I enjoyed it, and will keep watching.
CD44hi Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 Dunno know, I stopped watching after hour one. Reddick's character was too much into a "the wire" mentality IMO. Maybe I just can't dissociate myself from his previous character
freckling Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 What's the verdict so far now that the show has aired a few more episodes? Is it worth catching up/getting into? I felt a bit ambivalent after watching the commercials, but J.J. Abrams's involvement has me kind of intrigued...
n_maher Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 I've been enjoying it a lot and certainly feel that it's worth sticking with and letting develop.
grawk Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 I like him a lot more now that he's not trying to set faramir on fire.
tyrion Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 My family all watch it and are enjoying it, in particular Walter.
en480c4 Posted November 6, 2008 Author Report Posted November 6, 2008 My interest kind of flamed out after the first few episodes. Walter's entertaining, Blondey's hot, and hey, it's Pacey. But the group seems to have no chemistry together, Mr. Jackson apparently can't act for shit away from 'The Creek' and it's lots of build-up with no real pay-off. I'll probably catch up with it at some point, though.

The acting and group cohesion has certainly gotten better. It's not a perfect show by any means but few are early on.

That's good to hear. And I know shows take a while to gel, which is why I haven't written it off completely. I've fallen behind so much on TV shows since getting rid of the DVR, I'm missing lots of stuff I really like, meaning there's definitely not time for stuff I'm on the fence about.

I think you need an introduction to bittorrent

tkam Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 It's been a pretty enjoyable series so far, be interesting to see where the storyline goes.
Spiug31 Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 Fringe and Sanctuary are the only two current sci-fi series I find captivating and that`s in spite of the accent used by amanda tapping in Sanctuary.
freckling Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 Just caught the first episode, and while it does seem a little rough around the edges, it has potential. I'm going to check out a few more and ride this wave for a bit. It's also good to see Reddick getting work outside of the Wire besides being a super creepy guy on Lost.
Dusty Chalk Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 I fucking hated the fake science. I mean, if she was in his mind, how come she didn't know his ulterior motive? And the altered states stuff was just too much. I did like what they did with the location titles, although I was having flashbacks to Superbowls. I do heart Anna Torv, also, and John Noble was amazing -- he didn't "play" loose cannon, he just played his character, which happened to be a loose cannon. So -- wish I could like it more, but the pseudo-science was a big turn-off.

IMO the first episode is actually the worst one, they tried to rush everything together too quickly and it didn't work well at all. So far it seems to be getting consistently better with each new episode.

Yeah, the pseudo-science does bother me a bit, but it's because it's not really consistent. ...or things like when Anna Torv interrogates the guy in the first episode to find out which chemicals he used, he says "no" once and that's enough to make her walk out all pissed wow, really? or afterwards when he magically creates an "antidote" off the top of his head just because he knew what chemicals the original guy used
