Edwood Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 READY FOR ACTION! And coming to the XBox 360 Arcade. http://snowblind.com/Death_Tank_1280x720.wmv Fuck yeah, it's about damn time. I like the updated graphics, yet they still kept the core controls and feel of the game, right down to how the force shield behaves. -Ed
Dusty Chalk Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 You know, I'm not much of a gamer, but one of the few video games I've ever played is "Cybersled" in the mall. Death Tank looks kind of like that, especially with the lobbing of the shells like that, using hills to get the trajectory just right. XBox 360, huh?
aardvark baguette Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 I googled it. Looks like a rudimentary form of Worms.
NightWoundsTime Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 I played the even more rudimentary "Scorched Earth" back in the day. Good times. Not as good as Liero though . I NEED an update of that game.
Edwood Posted August 31, 2008 Author Report Posted August 31, 2008 I googled it. Looks like a rudimentary form of Worms. It's way better than Worms. The real key to Death Tank's awesomeness is that it is NOT turn based. It's all Real Time, baby! I hope they keep the funny like Blitz rounds.
Edwood Posted August 31, 2008 Author Report Posted August 31, 2008 I played the even more rudimentary "Scorched Earth" back in the day. Good times. Not as good as Liero though . I NEED an update of that game. Yeah, I'd have to say that Scorched Earth is THE inspiration for Death Tank. And pretty much every trajectory based shooting game, like Worms.
Knuckledragger Posted August 31, 2008 Report Posted August 31, 2008 I used to play Scorched Earth 15ish years ago. That game could cause friendships to be called into question.
NightWoundsTime Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 Yeah but I got into worse fights over Liero. Stupid spikeballs.... They were like the AWP in old school Counter Strike. A bit tricky to use but way too deadly in the right hands. To make matters worse Liero was played by multiple people at the same keyboard, making punches to the head all too easy. After catching a face full of spikeballs I'll admit to trying to cause some concussions.
Iron_Dreamer Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 It's been entirely too long since my last death tank session at your place, Ed! Looks like it should only be better for the next time, now!
Edwood Posted September 6, 2008 Author Report Posted September 6, 2008 Here's an old video of a 7 Player Death Tank Zwei fest at my place. Best part is the failed escape attempt by my friend.
Nenso Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 lol, this game looks fun.. maybe I should connect my 360 to the internet again. Does anyone reccomend the USB wireless receiver for the 360? My router is like in the opposite corner of the house. hmm, I still miss worms a lot, especially the Hallelujah Holy Hand Grenade! that I used to demolish half the map and my friends over 7 years ago.
catscratch Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 Well, the point of Worms was more the humor. There were some good arcade skills involved too, rope-jumping for instance and it was a lot of fun. I remember Cybersled. I used to play that a ton when there were still arcade machines in functional condition... about 10 years ago, maybe more. I really loved that game. This does look really addictive.
Chekhonte Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 Looks like fun. I haven't played a game like this since scorched earth back in the early 90's. I really like the fact that it's in real time. There used to be a shooting parabola game on the apple ][e that I used to play in the 80's too.
Edwood Posted February 21, 2009 Author Report Posted February 21, 2009 Death Tank is out on the 360 Live Arcade. It ROCKS!!!! -Ed
